After deciding that blender is far too slow / inefficient for texture painting, I've been looking at alternatives. I couldn't even get many of the other apps to run on my lowly PC, as an Intel HD 3000 was not good enough for them.
So it typical 'do everything yourself' mode, I decided to write my own. It has taken about a week so far, on and off, so I consider it a good investment in time as it should make asset creation much faster.
Yes, it looks good in game although I haven't done turning yaw yet. There is also idle animation, and I'll do plenty more animations, probably plenty die animations if I can't do ragdoll.
This morning I have been boning the crocodile, should have some croc animations pretty soon.
You won't have to worry. I only use my own assets which I make uniquely per challenge. The challenge for me in these projects isn't the programming part itself, but putting together the game using my primary skills - programming + graphics. Other people might benefit from your assets if you're willing to share them. As far as I know, it's not a competition among other members, but with one's self to finish.
I was thinking about releasing my assets for all to use on the challenge, to add to a common pool. My girlfriend says last night 'no!! it will give them the advantage!' .. Not sure if I mind that much lol.
