This was done a long time ago, back when I added the basic cylinder primitive. It shows a simple cylinder along with a refractive material, exposed to a light source. I am not sure why the black stuff on the top of the cylinder's rim is there, my guess is rays were getting refracted directly backwards to the camera and were then hitting the pitch black wall that's behind it.
The lighting was way too bright unfortunately, but it does seem plausible otherwise.
