Alpha blended snow
Alpha blended snow using a simple two stage alpha blend op in fixed function directx pipeline. A snow accumulation variable was added to the weather engine, and is used to control the blend op. Note the test blending cube drawn in the left foreground. I started by trying to blend just the cube. once i got it working, i made it blend the ground mesh. Note also the Moire` pattern from the use of a single snow texture for the blendop. I should improve that by using a set of at least 4 tiled snow textures, and a pattern map (such as the new generic random map) to determine which snow texture tile to use on which quad.
so now it snows when it cold, and the ground starts to get covered in snow, and remains covered until the snow accumulation drops low enough from melting. Now i can implement the snow related actions such as eat snow (a variation on the drink water action), and melt snow (for cooking). perhaps i should add other actions such as make snowball, and add the snowball weapon! <g>. at the very least, a throw snowball at fellow band member action is probably called for.
