‘Baba is You’ won big on Wednesday night, achieving both Excellence in Design and Best Student Game at the Independent Games Festival Awards. With the minimalistic but quirky art and intuitive but challenging puzzles, the game appeals to many different types of players.
Developer Arvi “Hempuli” Teikari commented that it can be difficult to display the game because players are jumping into a higher level, while the game usually teaches each player the logic of the game as you start from lower levels. Despite this, the mini-booth for ‘Baba is You’ at the IGF Pavilion consistently has a long line of waiting players and an eager fan base awaiting its release on Steam later this year.
