  4. Hi guys, I solve the issue by using a concept called system level mutex include in System.Threading.Mutex class of .NET. These are the some links helped me to solve this issue. http://www.informit.com/guides/content.aspx?g=dotnet&seqNum=605 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa332344(VS.71).aspx Thanks everybody akjal
  5. Hi I have a dll(say DLL1) which log the execution sequence into a text file dll1.txt . Two applications ,say APP1 and APP2 (running in the same machine) are using the DLL1 . The problem is, sometimes, therre is a chance that APP1 and APP2 access the DLL1 which in turn accesses the text file at the same time. This leads to a contention betweeen applications and applications halt. The code for Logging is thread safe within an application. That is, even if the a single application has got more than one threads, it will be managed. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  6. Thank u so much TheTroll for your reply. files are most of the time dlls and exe. Most of the times they are of size in KBs. What could be the reason ftp site is not accessibile from a server?

    [.net] .NET Framework Versions

Hi, I had the same concern 1 month back. We had an application developed in .NET 2.0. Due to some stability issue, we modified one of the components using .NET 3.0 . After integrarting the new component with old application ,to set up the servers I installed only .Net 3.0 . It automatically installed .NET 2.0 also (if the machine does not have .NET 2.0 installed before). You can see this in the ADD/Remove programs. Also, the application runs smoothly just right now. :) regards, akjal
  8. Hi All, Is there any other way to achieve the same. I mean, uploading files to a remote machine outside my network. I have a user account with admin privilege in the remote machine. Any help ...plz?
  9. Hi , I want to upload some files to a remote machine frequently. We have an ftp .But I cannot use FTP for uploading file as ftp is not available from remote server. I planned to write an application for that using FileWebResponse class. As a starting point I just tried to access that machine using program. But I am getting an error like the network path not found. FileWebResponse response=null; try { Uri uri = new Uri("file://remotemachinename/sharedfolder/sample.txt"); if (uri.Scheme == Uri.UriSchemeFile) { FileWebRequest request = (FileWebRequest)FileWebRequest.Create(uri); request.Credentials = new NetworkCredential ("username", "password", "domainname"); response = (FileWebResponse )request.GetResponse(); //ERROR happens here StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()); string tmp = reader.ReadToEnd(); response.Close(); } } catch(Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.Message); } finally { if (response != null) { response.Close(); } } Note: Remotemachine is not in my network. I am able to connect the remotemachine using mstsc with a username and password in the domain of remotemachine. I want to read a file in a shared folder in D drive of that machine. Could anybody give me a hint ...? Thanks in advance,
  10. Yea, it is written in dotnet. The scenario is like this: 1.My application calls this thired party component which is supposed to do some work for me. 2. I want to get it notified when that work done. Here third party would raise a an event to notify me. 3. I have an event handler to perform when that event is raised. It is not a DLL. It is an exe running separately in the same machine where my application runs. If both these application runs in diifernt application domains, how can I acheive the evnt-driven programming model? Actually we just started the design of this architecture. I just wanted to know some best methods in this matter. :) Thanks in advance..............
  11. Hi, I have an application which wants subscribe an event raised by third party application . Can anybody give any hint for this.? Should I use remoting to make possibile ...? Thanks in advance.. Regards, akjal
  12. Hi, Thanks for ur valuable information. Actually when I check the log of loaded assemblies , i found out that the COM + dll is loaded from GAC. I think that COM+ dll should not be installed in GAC. When i uninstalled it from GAC , it works fine. Thanks a lot
  13. Hi We have a COM+ component named CreateLetterRequest which is being called from another server. We installed it on two servers as a part of load balancing our application. It was working fine till date. Now one of the servers having some problem in the com+ component. The other one is working perfect. The error I am getting is : I got this error when i use a test application (windows application) . See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The system cannot find the file specified. 14. Hi, I have developed an application for our project which is used to generate Word documents (using microsoft office 11.0 object library dll) with the data taken from a databse. It is a multithreaded windows application. Each threads creates a word application , generate word file and then print as a file using Microsoft Office Document Image Writer print driver. All works fine. But, sometimes the application gets stuck and too many word objects can be seen in Task Manager. That means, some word application objects are not getting released from memory. This makes the entire application stuck. I am explicitly releasing all word objects in finally block.Even tried this also in Finally block: I mean explicitly calling Garbage Collector. Code SnippetGC.Collect() GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers() GC.Collect() GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers() But no way. Can anybody suggest some hints .i will be grateful to you people. Thanks in advance,
