    Definition Error

I figured out what was going on and it took a few hours to figure it out. I noticed that it was saying that the error was in the Entity.hpp file due to that line. That prompted me to look at all of my includes and I noticed that at some point I included the Sprite.hpp in a place where it would place itself before the full definition of the Entity class. Quite a hard to find error but it was found. Thank you for helping.
  2. I have a small problem that appeared when I was doing something entirely unrelated to where the problem is. I have been working on something small with a friend who wanted to create a simple framework. I agreed to help him. Basically the message log is thus: Compiling: Entity.cpp In file included from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Seven Wishes\Source\Window.hpp:17, from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Gui.hpp:13, from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Renderer.hpp:20, from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Entity.hpp:15, from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Entity.cpp:9: C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Sprite.hpp:22: error: invalid use of undefined type `struct Entity' C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Sprite.hpp:20: error: forward declaration of `struct Entity' In file included from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Gui.hpp:13, from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Renderer.hpp:20, from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Entity.hpp:15, from C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Entity.cpp:9: C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Window.hpp:20: error: invalid use of undefined type `struct Entity' C:\Users\George Gough\Documents\Wishes\Source\Sprite.hpp:20: error: forward declaration of `struct Entity' Process terminated with status 1 (0 minutes, 0 seconds) 4 errors, 0 warnings Now the top of the file Sprite.hpp looks as thus: #include <string> #include "Entity.hpp" #include "Vector.hpp" #include "Texture.hpp" #include "Renderer.hpp" class Renderer; class Entity; class Sprite : public Entity { I've tried moving the order of includes and forward declaring but neither work. I'm completely stumped and I can't build my project until this works.

    Real-time Networked 2D Graphics

Yes is the short answer. The how to do that is the long one.

How to link libraries with Code::Blocks?

Did you make sure to set it for the whole project and not just one of the builds (Debug, Release, or whatever builds you have). I have done that and it won't link if you do that and try to build a version that doesn't have the link parameters.

Thanks, if anyone else can confirm this just in case that would be wonderful but I think I'm going to go along with it since it isn't something that would break anything if I couldn't have it in the game.

    Quotes

Would it be legal to include a quote from a person in a game? Example: I make a game of some sort and decide to include a quote from Bruce Lee at some point, not verbal audio just written somewhere.

    Quick Question about Game Engines

Yes, it'd have to be well made and probably customized heavily if from an existing engine but sure, it is possible. It's the implementation that's the killer part.

    [ TBS ] Bunny Tactics

I only skimmed through this but it seems like a really good idea. If no one takes up the idea I might just have to do so, cause this seems like not only fun to play, but fun to develop.

Are you a Programmer or an Artist?

Choice one most of the time, but sometimes I actually come out with some nice looking 2D art on occasion. If I brushed up maybe I could be a three with pixel art only.

Advice on making very simple games

C++ isn't the only language that you can use. You can actually (with some time) create such games using your current knowlege (since I'm assuming some sort of knowlege of javascript, HTML, and possibly PHP). You could learn another language, but in my own personal opinion, you would probably be best off using the resources you hve to create something like that. As for how possible it is, yes it's possible. How long, that's not something that anyone can pinpoit; there are so many ways to do things and so many things you could do that it could range from five minutes to infitititiy. Gamemaker (if I recall correctly that's what it's called) is quite nice if you don't want to go the web application route that I described slightly. It would probably be the easiest for you to get into and is low cost last time I checked. And don't take any assumptions about this community, you know what they say about that...
  14. If I recall correctly the C++ function Sleep() is a Windows only function correct? If so, is there some cross platform equivalent or some similar command for *Nix machines?
