I created a tutorial on Python server client chat system and also a simple python client and server system   When I started on networking it was very hard trying to do anything especially with python networking but I think this will help people starting out if you're using sockets or using a library like pygame.
  2. Yes I thought that might be the case. What if I'm creating a cartoon image based on the photo. Do I need to ask permission? I mean it would be drawn from scratch but just using their photo as a reference.

Hello everyone,   I'm in the process of creating a mobile game for android and IOS (Actually finished the android one) but in this game, I'm planning on using some people's pictures, most of them are my friends.   The thing is, I'm hoping for this game to make it a little big and I'm just wondering would that affect me in the future and whether a simple message of saying "yes you can use my picture for this game" is enough.

Recently, I've been trying to make android games with pygame using pgs4a which basically takes the python code and turns it into java code and then runs the SDK to make the app. I had to learn the hard way and there wasn't much on it and I thought since I'm getting emails about how I did things, I should start a series of tutorials on how to use it.   5. Linux Mint is really great. I have only been using it for about a week and I am really happy with it. It is much better than ubuntu in my opinion.
  6. yes I have actually implemented my own container for the clients. but I still need to use socket sets if I want my server to be non-blocking. Maybe the clients don't need to be in a socketset for the whole lifetime of the application.
  7. Hello guys, I have been looking around for a while on how to resize a socket set in SDL_Net but I am not sure how to do it. What I am looking for right now is a way to retreave the sockets that are members of the set so I can put them into another set which is resized and then delete the old one. I have doubts that there is a way but if anyone could help me please reply.

Well many people also work with the networking library called SDL_net but it is very hard to get start with it. I have created a tutorial which will get you started and creating your own server using C++ and SDL_net from scratch. Knowledge of C++ would be very good since this isn't easy stuff but I did start it off assuming you are new to this. I also created a simple python client for the reason that you can implement it into blender to create your own game and using a powerful C++ server.   12. first you need to make objects such as buttons and menus. If you're just doing this in SDL, you can blit these to the screen and when you flip the screen they will appear. If you're using opengl with SDL, you need to make objects/plates and display them in ortho mode. If you don't know what I am on about, you should learn SDL and OpenGL and it will all become clear.

I know the site isn't professionally and it uses a free hosting service but we are not trying to act professionally and we cannot afford money to pay for hosting. [Thinking about moving soon though] I created the site to gather some game makers from different places to learn/teach with them about game creation and we set a team in the forum where we discuss and post the progress of the game. Most of the site members use game maker and I want some members that use blender so we could create a game in blender and also using other software.   14. So what do you suggest for personal data such as passwords etc? Also is encryption needed because the programmer doesn't trust the user or doesn't trust other random people trying to get the user's info?
  15. I am wondering, is there a point in encryption for an open source client for a multiplayer game with a server? what I mean, the server is closed-source and the client is open source. The way they're communicating, they're using encrypted protocal. would there be a point in this because the client is open source so the "hacker" would be able to break into the protocol and encryption much easier. So is there any point into using encryption on data?
