  15. Why I cannot use pointer in this function: [SOURCE] char* validString(char* string) { char c,*ch; int i=0; ch = (char*)malloc(sizeof(char)*(nCharacter(string)+1)); while((c=*string++)!='\0') if(isLetter(c)) ch[i++] = c; ch[i]= '\0'; return (ch); } [/SOURCE] when I change my code to *ch(plus plus) (note: sorry can't display plus sign) it doesn't working. WHY.......? I want to change all array in this code to pointer. this is the whole code: [SOURCE] #include <stdio.h> #include <malloc.h> char* validString(char* string); void copyString(char* s1,char* s2); int nCharacter(char* string); void displayString(char* string); int isLetter(int c); char* concatenateString(char* s1,char* s2); void displayString(char* string){ int c; while((c=*string++)!='\0'){ switch(c) { case 'a':case 'i':case 'u':case 'e':case 'o': case 'A':case 'I':case 'U':case 'E':case 'O': printf("Vocal %10c\n",c);break; default: printf("Konsonant %6c\n",c); } } } int isLetter(int c) { if((c>='a'&&c<='z')||(c>='A'&&c<='Z')||c==' ') return 1; else return 0; } char* validString(char* string) { char c,*ch; int i=0; ch = (char*)malloc(sizeof(char)*(nCharacter(string)+1)); while((c=*string++)!='\0') if(isLetter(c)) ch[i++] = c; ch[i]= '\0'; return (ch); } void copyString(char* s1,char* s2) { while((*s1++=*s2++) != '\0') ; } int nCharacter(char* string) { int i=0; while(*string++ != '\0') ++i; return i; } char* concatenateString(char* s1,char* s2) { int i=0; char *ch; ch = (char*)malloc(sizeof(char)*(nCharacter(s1)+nCharacter(s2)+1)); while((ch[i]=*s1++)!='\0') i++; while((ch[i++]=*s2++)!='\0') ; ch[i]='\0'; return (ch); } int main(){ char* test = "string test"; char* myString = "I made this string by myself...."; char* name="M2y Na35m6e I>s Kh6&a%n"; displayString(test); printf("\n\n"); displayString(myString); name = validString(name); name = concatenateString(name,"\n"); name = concatenateString(name,validString("abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz")); name = concatenateString(name,"\n"); name = concatenateString(name,validString("ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ")); printf("\n\n%s\n",name); return 0; } [/SOURCE]
