  1. You see, I figured that changing the zNear and the zFar would be the only way to display the projected astronomically large scene. But I see now that the way I need to go about doing that involves rendering in phases, changing the zNear, and zFar for each phase.

Not quite sure why, but to fix it, you can reduce the difference between zNear and zFar in your gluPerspective call. Hope this helped!

[/quote] And upon even further research, I have found out how to solve the second problem, perhaps I should not have posted this. Forgive me, I am quite new to this.
