1.   I've tried editing the Manifest file several times in different ways but it still gives me the same error. I extracted the contents of the .jar, edited the manifest file and used 7zip to open the .jar again to overwrite the manifest with the one with the changes I made. I even used the exact same text you gave me. I'm still getting the same error.
2. I have been using eclipse as my IDE for Java programming but I cannot figure out what is going on. I'm compiling a simply Hello World program but it won't run outside Eclipse. I have googled this problem for hours and tried many solutions but nothing has worked.   Code: public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Hello World"); } } Error:   Works fine in Eclipse:

Eclipse and SFML

What do you mean by on console? The console window on the bottom of Eclipse? If so its throwing me a bunch of undeclared errors when I try to run it.
4. So I've been learning C++ and have finally gotten to the point where I'm ready to do graphics. I tried to install SFML and I've followed several tutorials about how to link it properly in Eclipse but I can't get it to work at all. The furthest I can get is where I'm getting undeclared errors instead of unable to resolve ones. Can someone help me figure out what's wrong? I'm using the tutorial code from the SFML website so I know there's nothing wrong with it. Here's some screenshots of my settings if that helps:
And a screenshot of the errors I'm getting:
Standalone Programs

Hello, I was wondering how well Python works for stand alone applications because I know it's an interpretated language. If it works well, can someone recommend a good IDE? And if not what would be a good beginner language to learn to make stand alone apps?

Getting in to games development

I refer you to this ad, http://www.gamedev.net/classifieds/item/2401-help-wanted-free-education-in-game-development/ I signed up and am learning a lot. Read the whole ad and just sign up on their website, you'll start off as an intern learning game development and who knows where you'll go from there?

Gamemaker,RPGmaker, etc.

Thank you, that seems to be the exact type of program that I'm looking for, any similar suggestions would be appreciated.

Gamemaker,RPGmaker, etc.

I can do some basic programming like if statements, for loops, all the way up to arrays. The main reason I would be using a tool is for the graphics, sound, and the other things that would be more difficult to program.
9. I've got a small team of friends together and I have a working knowledge of how to develop a game. My question has to do with what programs would be good for our project. I've taken a look at Game maker and RPG maker but they both require you to purchase them in order to do anything significant. Does anyone know of a similar program that can be used for free to develop a 2-D isometric view game? It should be beginner friendly and fairly easy to use. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Roleplaying Sites

Are there some really good community driven roleplaying sites out there? I'm really looking for one, so I'll definitely check out any recommendations. Any mmorpgs that have a strong roleplaying community are good too.

Develop or not to develop

Thank you for the information and advice everybody. Eventually I really want to make this game but that can wait until I learn more about programming and other things dealing with game design.

Develop or not to develop

Oh I'm definately not arrogent enough to think I could do anything on that scale by myself. I was thinking more along the lines of a medival rpg like the Elder Scrolls games. My idea is that your a chosen citizen that is sent to another province to start a town. The reason for this is because the empire wants to have a foothold in that province since they have been talking about seperating from the empire. You are expected to keep this a secret but I have already planned for the player to have many choices and one of them was for the player to help the province seperate from the empire. They can also become a mercanary or bounty hunter to earn the money and resources to start the town. Or they can become friends with the other nobles in the province and earn it that way. They can even just betray the empire and live in the province as a normal citizen.

Develop or not to develop

I feel like I want to do both, I mean I love to program but with this idea I have I want to design it and have all the creative control. I love the designing process as well and I get ideas for basic game designs other people have all the time. Do I have to choose?

Develop or not to develop

I'm still in high school but I have this great idea for a game and I have some knowladge of game development. I'm trying to learn some programming so I have a little experiance with that as well. Should I try to get a team together to develop the game or focus on school and learning some C++? I definately have the skills and resources to do either but I want some advice.
