1. Browser based games mostly text based... http://portal.battleon.com http://armorgames.com http://newgrounds.com http://Kongregate.com http://www.nplay.com/BeGone I think that's a misconception.
2. Start with a very simple goal. Very simple. Something like "Tertris with X" Then look at the base features. Rotating Shapes. Making shapes fall. Making shapes break when in a line. Then when that's done, add X. Then win and loss conditions. Then expand on your game. Some features are easier to implement than others.
3. [background=transparent]It would work relatively simply. There is a single marked starting line, a marked endpoint, and an open world, in the style of venice. There would be a line marking a recommended route, avoiding areas with lots of people, obstacles. A minimap showing your location, and a toggleable master map. There would be very simple AI people who wander around the map, but flee when a player comes near. [/background] [background=transparent] The player would sit atop a vespa (Motor Scooter) and race to the destination point. You’d race against 4 other either people or AI atop vespas. Each one has a specific AI. The first follows your route, and wanders when it catches up or loses you. Then, when and if possible, it follows you again. The second follows the recommended route. The third Picks from 1 of 6 predetermined routes. The fourth Makes a random decision at every fourth intersection, but otherwise makes the decision at each intersection that will bring it closer to the finish point. People would have a simple online matchmaking system based on location using GeoIP. There would be buses that follow a predetermined route through canals, making stops at certain points, but travel slightly faster than a vespa’s average speed. (Adjusted for balance) Thoughts on how easy a game like this would be to create as a single person with a year of Java experiance, but limited experiance with the engine, on unity? Thoughts on alternative or better AI? [/background]

An open world Racing game

Oh, I intended to fix that by making it wander around if you stopped. And if you notice it, and it annoys you, just lose it by hopping on a water bus.

Making the wilderness interesting

I find that what makes a wilderness interesting for me is a huge variety in shapes and colors of the world. i didn't like skyrim's wilderness because it all felt the same. Make it diffrent, make it vibrant, and if you can, make it huge. If you can make it large, add survival elements, possibly similar to DayZ.

Your first game idea - What happened to it?

[background=rgb(250, 251, 252)]What was the idea? An FPS Strategy game hybrid with First person elements in the style of Red Orchestra, and call of duty 2. The strategy mechanics were similar to that of the on rail flash flash game Ware-fare 1944, but with a command system using marker such as "Defend Here" "Attack Here" How far: Glad to say I'm still working on a rough draft of sorts. I'm glad I've stuck with it. I've got a GDD and a few half finished models and lines of code, all coming together slowly. It's a good excuse for me to learn java. [/background] [background=rgb(250, 251, 252)]Evolving: It started out as me wanting to improve and bring out my favourite mechanics of Ace of Spades, and as I designed it turned into something else entirely. [/background] [background=rgb(250, 251, 252)]Lessons learned: Ideas morph and change, what you set out to make will change. Java's hard to learn when all you've ever dealt with before's html and python. I tried making early versions of it in 2d using game maker, but it just wasn't flexible enough.[/background]
