  1. WoA V - The Competition Thread

Sketch Week of Awesome Official 3rd Blog Entry: So I managed to jam something together. Haven't play tested anything so I'm guessing a ton of bugs are present. I didn't add any sound fx, and only 1 level but its done I guess... Here is a google drive link just incase I can't upload to the official site. Had fun, but this last bit was way more stress inducing than it should've been. Good Luck to all Game Jammers! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0OfyxXXHl1MRGRRQnQ0T0V2UDQ/view?usp=sharing Oh and the Name of my game is: Alien Day / Heroic Knight

Sketch Week of Awesome Official 2nd Blog Entry: Soooo... I didn't do anything Friday or Saturday and wanted to quit as I can only work on my game until 7pm and its 5pm so i'll see what I can do in that amount of time. Hope I get something at least playable going....
  3. WoA V - The Competition Thread

Sketch Week of Awesome Official 1st Blog Entry: Ok I'm done for the day, almost pulled what little hair I do have out trying to get mecanim generic and mecanim humanoid animations to work properly. Managed to get a menu, and swap out the player character on the unity store asset template i'm using. Added a mini map, and need to swap out the enemies, health pick ups, and figure out some levels. Have 2 pics, will try to have some vids tmr. Keep up the great work everyone!

Thanks to ryan20fun for the heads up, as I originally posted this in the wrong thread earlier. Ok this is kinda a blog update but I'll add more stuff like pictures and videos later on this evening. So my untitled game will combine the alien invasion and castles theme and will feature slime monsters from mars that crash land on Earth and try to take over a medieval land. You as the hero must stop them before they reach the king and overthrow him, and the rest of the world. That's what I have so far. Took me just about all day yesterday to come up with it. Looking to make a hack n slash type game similar to um... Light Crusader or Fatal Laybrinth on Sega Genesis, but with less RPG elements. I'll be using the Unity Game Engine. I've started playing with some assets from the unity asset store trying to get them to play nice together, more updates later tonight! Just got home from work, going to eat and then work a bit on my game and then post something before I go to bed.

  8. Hey everyone, it took me a while to re-find this thread. I plan on taking time out this weekend to play test all the games! Just wanted to congratulate everyone for the great job they did in a week! I saw a few questions being answered and figured I'd give them a try too.   So, what kind of games are people working on now? Officially, nothing but I really want to make an Ouya game though   What kind of cool code bits are you going to rip out of your submitted games to use for other projects? Definitely going to try to improve on the arrow pointer system. The default system had 3 items and I added 1 more to make 4. Going to try to push it to about 10-20 and see if unity crashes or not :)
  9. The Week of awesome II - The competition Thread!

Hey everyone, here is my final build of Missing Marbles... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/68091416/week_awesome_2_final/week_awesome_2.html After doing some (very limited) play testing, I had to scrap the Turbo Boost Power Up, as it would occasionally boost you through the level bounds. I cut the timer time down... alot to increase the challenge. Not sure if that makes the game too difficult or not (time, and you all will tell). I originally didn't even want a timer, I wanted the player to be able to fully explore the rooms, but you know... time constraints. I'm pretty pleased with the final product, but I do know that a bit more time & polish (and play testing) would've helped a ton. The rest of the entries look truly amazing and I really can't wait to play them all! Congrats to everyone who finished, everyone who started but couldn't finish, and everyone who didn't enter this time, but plans on entering the Week of Awesome III.   Now (or in about 3 hours or so)... It's time to play the (toy based) Game!   And to everyone still working on your games... You can do it! Get in that final push! And then you too can treat yourself to some toy based games as well

Just about done, need to finalize the offical pickup item placement tomorrow. Also need to fix the sound effects, as the bomb / boost / marble pickup all sound the same, eventhough I assigned them different audioclips. Any Feedback is greatly appreciated!   https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/68091416/week_awesome_2_update/week_awesome_2.html

Just a small update... So the game will be a find all the items type game instead of a traditional racing game. Also, I decided on the game title "Lil' Lost Marbles", so as the title kinda implies, you'll be racing around looking for your lost marbles. Before Dad gets home and trips on them and give you a whoopin' :) I think i'll keep the little race kart player for now, and I added the marble pick up system. Still no marble collection GUI yet, and most household items have no colliders yet, just the walls and floors. Added some "bonus" items like a turbo boost, a spinout bomb and a wiggle thingy (that I may not keep) not sure if I should make the game timed or not to add to the challenge. Here is a playable web demo (need to have the unity web plugin installed) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/68091416/week_awesome_2/week_awesome_2.html Also be careful as turbo boosting into the wall may send you out of the game playable area (I need to fix that)
  12. The Week of awesome II - The competition Thread!

A small update of some screenshots of work in progress! Don't have a game title just yet for my game, but it will be similar to Toy Commander & Toy Racer for Sega Dreamcast. Just a small prototype of driving around a really big room. Was thinking of having a traditional Racing game, but with limited time, it may be a find all of the lost items, type of game. I like the look of it so far, not sure if i'll keep the kart racer or swap for a more toy based racer just yet. Trying to find some royalty free music to accompany the game now, and hopefully by thursday I can have something playable.
  13. Not much of an update, but just wanted to say that I'll try to do a toy racing type game, similar to Toy Commander or Toy Racer on Sega Dreamcast. I'll be using Unity 3D and hopefully I'll show more work in progress soon. As for now, I need to play, I mean research more Toy Commander & Toy Racer. Until tomorrow!
  14. Just came across this literally 2 minutes ago! Count me in! Time to put on me game design pants! The fancy, new shiny ones at that!
  15. The Week of Awesome: Unofficial GDNet Competition

Ok here is my entry. Didn't get to spend as much time as i would've like on it. 1st work, then had a bad toothache and had to get the tooth pulled. So that put me out of commison for about 3 days alone there. But my game is basically you're a pterodactyl that has to survive for as long as possible in a post apocalyptic world. The humans are trying to shoot you down with airplanes. Thats it. No special power ups, ending screens, hidden characters or even extra levels. Just 1 level and see how far of a distance you can fly before you are shot down. A webgame link can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/68091416/dino%20flight/webgame.html   And a zip file of a windows exe can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/68091416/Dino%20Flight%20winexe.zip   I have only tested the game on windows vista, but should work on xp and 7, not sure about 8 though. Constructive feedback is welcomed!
