After 10 months of hard work, the open source and MIT licensed Godot Engine has reached the first stable release, Godot 1.0!   Several hundred issues were fixed, and dozens of contributions from the community were merged. In the meanwhile and in the absence of any publicity or mention in the developer press, the user community has silently kept growing, only via word of mouth. The forum, IRC and Facebook are full of life!   Likewise, documentation and demos have improved enormously, and there are several video tutorials created by the community available on YouTube. Soon, we will be opening the public wiki for users to contribute documentation. Godot is the most advanced and complete open source game engine in existence.   The 1.0 release is finally a good time to consider Godot as a serious production tool.   http:/   Please spread the news!!
  5. GamingPenguin from the Godot Engine forum is organizing a Winter Holidays Godot Game Jam! (Summer Holidays Game Jam for us in the southern hemisphere). The rules seem to be (copied from the forum): The game must be made with Godot Engine The game should have a Winter Holiday theme You must enter using the entry thread here: (Coming Soon) You must open source the full project, code and assets, Binaries for Windows, Mac and Linux are not required but would be very welcome No Pornographic or offensive games Games can be worked on by multiple people One person can submit more than one game This can be a nice chance to use or learn Godot for a little project and get to know the community better, as well as learning from the other projects.   8. Godot is a fully featured, open source, MIT licensed, game engine. It focuses on having great tools, and a visual oriented workflow that can export to PC, Mobile and Web platforms with no hassle. The editor, language and APIs are feature rich, yet simple to learn.    
  9. [EDIT] It's already out -   Hi guys! I’ll be brief. We’ll be opening a game engine that has more than a decade of work (and several iterations) as MIT license soon. It’s not an engine made by hobbyists, this is a production tool used to develop and publish plenty of games for PC, Consoles and Mobile. It’s currently in beta stage, meaning it’s feature complete and fully usable, but lacks very little fine tuning and testing. It has a similar feature set to Unity (little less stuff on 3D front, much more stuff on the 2D front, debugging). and runs on all the popular desktop and mobile platforms, as well as on the web (through asm.js). Unlike almost any other game engine with this level of features, the editor runs fine in Linux, as well as Windows and OSX, and supports one click deploy. Here’s some screenshots: The reason I’m posting this here is that I’d like to get feedback and some help with testing to make sure at the time of release there aren’t any serious issues that prevent it from running. Also as we are not native english speakers, we’d like to make sure that all the API grammar is as free of mistakes as possible (the engine has more than a hundred classes).
