    Playing a Video

Sorry for my late respond, I have been very busy lately. I will definitely take a look at Windows Media Foundation and Directshow. Thanks a lot for the answers!
  2. Hello!   I have an application that I have made in Visual Studio 2013 using c++ and DirectX. What I want to do is when you start the application the application should not run immediatly, instead a video should play that is around 10 seconds long and after that the application starts running. So basically what I want to do is just to play a simple video nothing more. How do I do that? Note that I want the video to play in fullscreen mode, not in a window!   Regards!

    Render Text

    Thanks alot Washu, great tutorial!

    Render Text

Ok I managed to figure out something more. My previous camera settings were camPosition = XMVectorSet(0.0f, 2.0f, -5.0f, 0.0f); So here we only saw "Hello World". However when I changed my cam settings to camPosition = XMVectorSet(0.0f, 20.0f, -300.0f, 0.0f); I can now see the cube or atleast drawings of it. This is how it looks http://sv.tinypic.com/r/amzekx/8   So I don't really know how to solve this, my guess would be that perhaps I have to create a render target or a texture that I write to? I could be completely wrong but I am thinking that DrawString function takes a position x and y so it doesn¨t determine the z axis and my cubes are somehow messed up.   Hopefully some of you might know how to fix this   Regards!

    Render Text

Well I debugged the code and tried to figure some stuff out. So like I said I managed to figure out that the text was being rendered but it was white and so was the background so we couldn't see it, however my cubes are still messed up. I don't know perhaps you missed one of my posts, the one above your latest one :P

    Render Text

Ok I can't believe I fell for this, the text is being rendered but the text color was white and so was the background . So atleast one problem is now solved however my cubes only renders the first time and after the function has been running more than once only the text is being rendered. Here is a video of it http://sv.tinypic.com/r/27xmbsk/8 And here is the moste recent code http://pastebin.com/XbwHWNeC   Regards!

    Render Text

I read through all of this http://directxtk.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=SpriteBatch&referringTitle=Home but I can't figure out how I should remake the code, my knowledge is not that great I am just a beginner at DirectX.   However I recorded a video to show you what is happening sort of, it might be of some help. http://sv.tinypic.com/r/okze6a/8 If there is any particular information you need please ask away.   Regards!
  8. Hello!   Well I am following this tutorial  on youtube and it seemed pretty cool, however when I do the same thing I can't get the text to render, and furthermore, the cubes that were being rendered before doesn't render aswell, it just blank white.   http://pastebin.com/TVbSK4wr   I am not posting my whole project because I have noticed people only get upset over it so I am just posting the core part.    If I remove theese three lines everything works fine spriteBatch->Begin(); spriteFont->DrawString(spriteBatch.get(), L"Hello World", SimpleMath::Vector2(100, 100)); spriteBatch->End(); This is how it is suposed to look http://sv.tinypic.com/r/2s8i9af/8   However when those three lines of code are there my application is just pure blank / it is white. I hope you don't want me to show you what that looks like   And for those interested here is my declarations and some other useful pieces of code that might help you understand unique_ptr<SpriteBatch> spriteBatch; unique_ptr<SpriteFont> spriteFont; ID3D11ShaderResourceView* textTexture; spriteBatch.reset(new SpriteBatch(deviceContext)); spriteFont.reset(new SpriteFont(device, L"C:\\Users\\Dawood\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2013\\Projects\\D3\\Arial.spriteFont")); There is nothing else that has anything to do with rendering text, if anything is wrong then it is here. Like I said people usually don't like when I post my entire project so I won't do it in the future unless somebody asks for it.   Any help is appreciated!   Regards!

    Can't Load Textures

Yes, I had that one written wrong aswell, it is suposed to be TEXCOORD instead of COLOR.

    Can't Load Textures

The problem is solved, thanks for the help!   If you look at this link http://directxtk.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=WICTextureLoader&referringTitle=Home it is saying "The module assumes that the client code will have already called CoInitialize or CoInitializeEx as needed by the application before calling the WIC loader routines" so all I had to do was to write "hResult = CoInitialize(NULL);" before I used the WICLoad function.   http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms678543%28v=vs.85%29.aspx   Just writing this incase somebody else encounters the same problem and happens to come across my thread.   Regards!

    Can't Load Textures

I don't think that is the issue since I am loading my shader that way and it is working fine, hwoever I tried it anyway and it didn't work.

    Can't Load Textures

I solved a part of it, now my cubes are atleast being drawn but they are black, so like I said before I think I am writing this particular line wrongly "hResult = CreateWICTextureFromFile(device, L"C:\\Users\\Dawood\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2013\\Projects\\D3\\melones.jpg", NULL,&cubesTexture, NULL);" but I don't know what is wrong, so if you could look at the following link http://directxtk.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=WICTextureLoader&referringTitle=Home and tell me what I am writing wrong it would be of help.
  13. Hello!   Well as the title states, I am failing to load textures. I am following this guide http://www.braynzarsoft.net/index.php?p=D3D11TEXTURES. However I am on windows 8 so I am not using the "D3DX11CreateShaderResourceViewFromFile()" function instead I download the DirectXTK from here http://directxtk.codeplex.com/ and now I am trying to use the following function "CreateWICTextureFromFile()" which is described here http://directxtk.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=WICTextureLoader&referringTitle=Home   However when I run the program nothing is being drawn on my windows, it's only white, and I am getting no errors whatsoever. I am assuming that I am writing the following function wrongly "CreateWICTextureFromFile()". However I don't know what's wrong. You can find my entire project here http://pastebin.com/QrukNBUi   Any help is greatly appreciated!   Regards!
  14. Guys I really appreciate your help but since I am a newbie I really would appreciate some examples, meaning that you show me how to do it, it is very hard for me to understand otherwise. Please take your time to show me if you are able because the problem started occuring again   An example would be; If I want to allocate memory for my XMMATRIX WVP; how do I do it?   Regards!
  15. __declspec(align(16)) XMMATRIX World; ? or XMMATRIX __declspec(align(16)) World; ? If the problem occurs again I will definitely try this but I don't know WTF is wrong, the program just started working and all I did was rewrite the lines according to the tutorial I was following.
