    C++ Angle bracket function

    Sorry for not replying for a while! I managed to get it all sorted out thanks to your help!

    C++ Angle bracket function

    I'm sorry but I tried using templates but I couldn't seem to get them working. Could you give me an example?
  3. Hello! I've been trying to add a component system to my game but I just came across a roadblock! I wanna make it so you can call something like this: whatever.addComponent<UsersDefinedComponentDerivedFromTheComponentClass>(); and the add component function would do something like this: void addComponent() { components.push_back(derivedComponent); } Sorry, I know this is probably super simple but I'm quite new to coding in C++. Please help and thanks in advance!
  4. Oh wow! Thanks so much! I can't believe I didn't think of that :wacko:
  5. Hello! I was wondering if there's anyway I could do something like this:   Library.cpp int main() { init(); while (true) { update(); draw(); } } main.cpp #include <Library.hpp> void init() { //blah } void update() { //blah } void draw() { //blah } It that possible or will I have to figure something else out?
  6. Oh wow, I never knew that :wacko:. I'd say it would be a good idea to keep the "It's free" thing but put it at the bottom of the page, like LUA. But the rest is fine then, guess I should've done more research  :)
  7. Is this supposed to be something like Python or LUA? If so, it says on your page that whenever you use it you have to give credit to SGScript. That seems kind of odd considering this is supposed to be a modern language. It also says it's free as a feature, which is kinda off putting. I don't know, just my opinion. Nice job anyway.
  8. Hello! I've been having this error for a couple days and I can't find a way to fix it. If I include SFML/OpenGL.hpp during the build it says this: c:\mingw\include\sfml\opengl.hpp:46:23: fatal error: GL/gl.h: No such file or directory I'm using MinGW on windows, my IDE is CLion and CLion uses CMake. Here's the full error log: Scanning dependencies of target LearningOpenGL [ 50%] Building CXX object CMakeFiles/LearningOpenGL.dir/src/main.cpp.obj In file included from C:\My\folder\path\src\main.cpp:4:0: c:\mingw\include\sfml\opengl.hpp:46:23: fatal error: GL/gl.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. mingw32-make.exe[3]: *** [CMakeFiles/LearningOpenGL.dir/src/main.cpp.obj] Error 1 mingw32-make.exe[2]: *** [CMakeFiles/LearningOpenGL.dir/all] Error 2 CMakeFiles\LearningOpenGL.dir\build.make:62: recipe for target 'CMakeFiles/LearningOpenGL.dir/src/main.cpp.obj' failed CMakeFiles\Makefile2:66: recipe for target 'CMakeFiles/LearningOpenGL.dir/all' failed CMakeFiles\Makefile2:78: recipe for target 'CMakeFiles/LearningOpenGL.dir/rule' failed mingw32-make.exe[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/LearningOpenGL.dir/rule] Error 2 mingw32-make.exe: *** [LearningOpenGL] Error 2 Makefile:117: recipe for target 'LearningOpenGL' failed And here's my code: #include <SFML/System.hpp> #include <SFML/Window.hpp> #include <SFML/Graphics.hpp> #include <SFML/OpenGL.hpp> int main() {     sf::Window window(sf::VideoMode(800, 600), "OpenGL", sf::Style::Default, sf::ContextSettings(32));     while (window.isOpen())     {         sf::Event event;         while (window.pollEvent(event))         {             if (event.type == sf::Event::Closed)                 window.close();         }     }     return 0; } P.S. It works fine when SFML/OpenGL.hpp isn't included.

  10.   Sorry, that's a bit above my skill level.   Well, that escaladed quicky ^^   What GeneralJList said was totally justified. Not finishing a project is a very common flaw and should be worked on as soon as possible. Mostly by working on small title (1 or 2 weeks of dev) and making sure to finish those project. An Idea Guy is a common type of person with no skills but the (auto-proclamed) best idea of the world. So not a very useful person ^^' (so when he said you were'nt an Idea Guy, that was a compliment.)   No older person wants to trust a 13 year old coder with code.   Also don't assume his skill level when you have absolutely no idea how long he is working on games. That is just pueril :) That said, on to the real critic/advice.   1. As the people above mentioned it, you need game demo on your website. You could said that you are the best programer in the wolrd, witout concrete resuls to prove your worth, well, your claim is worthless. 2. Your website is rather nice, simple, clear. Keep it that way. 3. Be nice. It sound a bit generic as an adivce. But people on this site are trying to help you the best they can, and won't bash you without reason. No need to be aggresive.   Good luck on your search for an artist!     Sorry, I just get annoyed when people think I'm a lower level programmer 'cause I'm younger. Also BTW it says how long he's been working with games on his profile page :D
  11.     Oh, wow. It's almost as if I'm not looking to work with an older person and I'm totally just not serious enough about my projects, yeah that's totally the problem. Also I'm gonna lie about my work habits to someone I'd hope to work with and I'm not saying I'm not a idea person I'm saying I'd like to program some other persons idea. Also don't assume my skill level when I've been working with games longer than you.
  12. I appreciate the advice and I have actually made a few quick edits to my site so thanks for pointing that out. I would list the projects I've worked on but I feel that they don't really indicate my current skill level 'cause I've grown a fair bit in the programming world so I'm not overly proud of them.
  13. Thanks for the advice but I really do think I'm pretty rounded in the 2D game world. I don't overly care about genre and I don't know if you read my site but I've got a fairly good knowledge of programming. Also there's no fun in just sticking to what I already know. Oh yeah and I haven't updated my site recently so I might wanna add I can also program in Java and a lil' bit of C++
  14. Hello! I'm a 13 year old game developer from England and I really wanna make a game. I don't have too many ideas for one right now but I can program in HTML5. I've been programming for about 4 years and I think I'm pretty good at it. Also I'm terrible at finishing projects to keep that in mind. Oh yeah: I'm also home-schooled so I have a fair amount of free time. Here's my website: http://jaaay.net/ and here's my Twitter: https://twitter.com/jaaaaaaaaay__   Also I am looking for someone around my age. :D
