    Accepted to college but..

Going to give a little background here. I have 3 kids. I have been to college before for small things and decided I wanted to go for something in the gaming field. I didn't qualify for financial aid due to my income last year. However I am not employed right now. I am looking for a job. Unfortunately while trying to respond earlier one of my kids spilt a drink on my computer...😑 So it's gone now too.... Yey. I will continue to keep y'all posted. Yes I'm in the US. I didn't qualify for loans due to no job.

I was accepted into college however I am unable to go. I did not qualify for financial aid and I have no money to pay them. Here's to GoFundMe hoping I can get the money. Life sure is frustrating. Why does college have to cost so much that even if you get a job between: rent, gas, utilities, and family costs education is put entirely on the back burner. Go to college.... So you can pay for it the rest of your life.

I Know Nothing and I want to change that

Hey everybody. Thanks for all of the great feed back. This morning I took a big step back and thought about what everyone said. I did a few Google searches and looked at unity 2018. I believe I will be learning c# what I was after was astetic and beauty in my game. I find that for this project unity will do more than that. Although I will lose some things I think for my game unity will work fine.

It's a little overwhelming. You see I can't learn by reading all I can do from reading is remember well iff // means the following is only for the programmers and every code needs a main() but I can never really learn unless I know why if that makes sense. For instance with #include<iostream> I know it provides basically input and output services from what I have read but what even...😑 I read some about c and c# as well and still feel just as confused. Like the word choice is like a bird in the sky and I'm on the ground. It goes over my head. I want to work in game design in some way. But I'm not good at art. I can write but who can't. I'm not good with composing music. 3d animation well tht goes the way of art so what valuble role can I play... I don't want to just play the games any more. I also want to make them. 😕

So biggest newbie question I have is. C# automatically assigns a memory value and C++ does not. That's the difference right?

Got ya. The only reason I was trying to learn c++ first was because I was going to use unreal engine. Is there one that uses C# that is equivalent

    Why not?

Hey I have a question. Should my code always start with #include<iostream> or does it depend on the situation?

Okay so when does it run. For instance does it run each time the player takes damage?

Also the double // allow you to put a description in for future reference without the code actually acting on it. So it's pretty much ignored correct?

I think I grasp how it works. Correct me if I am wrong. This script runs constantly. Always checking the players health basically the script runs off what I call the "if" system. It checks the health value repeatedly to make sure the health doesn't reach 0 if it does the code quits running and refers to a different line of code that would state in code if health is less than or equal to 0 make the game flash game over or something along those lines. Correct?

Haha you say I grasp the basics that was memorization from previous learning materials. I am however dedicated to learning this so I will give headfirst into the videos and see if it makes any sense to me. I will also work on little bits of coding and post them on here for critiquing and criticism. Onward with my head held high maybe I can learn something new

Okay. Is there some books you can recommend or website that will break it down for someone who is considered the equivalent to a 70 year old trying to use a touchscreen phone for the first time?

So now for my confusion 😂 if the gaming engine itself does all the programming for you ( unreal engine does most if I am not mistaken) then what are programmers used for. Most of the programming I have seen relates to the above. Basically being used as a calculator.
