  1. buy battle axe in uk

Quote:Original post by Riviera Kid Hi, I am looking to buy a battle axe for decorative purposes. Firstly, where can i find a nice axe? All of the ones i have found on ebay/net are fugly. There are some nice swords. see collector blades almost all of these are swords but no good axes. See other links on that site for generic swords/axes. I prefer a single sided axe, gritty looking, golden coloured with lots of detail. however this sword is amazing imo and this one but i would still like an axe. Also, can i get these into the UK? I dont mind them blunt. Thanks You dont mind them blunt? Non blunt weapons are dangerous to handle, especially when you can't resist the urge to practice with them. You can easily chop off some flesh out of your body.
  2. Call of Cthulhu: Dark corners of earth

Apparently, I hate myself. This game creep the hell out of me. I can't play it straight for too long, yet I have an urge to play it. I have just started, but I can see I will have a lot of scary nightmares before I finish it. I think it might be the most scary game ever made. It is so credible. So, do you think its the most scary game ever? I played fear a little, and it was nothing close to this game.
  3. DirectX effects files.

DirectX provides a way to compile C-like effects files. Is there a way to precompile these effects files into GPU assembly? and load the assembly files directly with directX? So it won't be so easy to take or change the effects of a program by the end-user. Thanks in advance.
  4. I don't understand how the graphics card figures which is the screen pixel cordinates from the vertex shader. Consider the following code(Its from a book, so all his rights are reserved, etc. I hope I am allowed to post it): //============================================================================= // color.fx by Frank Luna (C) 2004 All Rights Reserved. // // Basic FX that simply transforms geometry from local space to // homogeneous clip space, and draws the geometry in solid color. //============================================================================= uniform extern float4x4 gWVP; struct OutputVS { float4 posH : POSITION0; float4 color : COLOR0; }; OutputVS ColorVS(float3 posL : POSITION0, float4 c : COLOR0) { // Zero out our output. OutputVS outVS = (OutputVS)0; // Transform to homogeneous clip space. outVS.posH = mul(float4(posL, 1.0f), gWVP); // Just pass the vertex color into the pixel shader. outVS.color = c; // Done--return the output. return outVS; } float4 ColorPS(float4 c : COLOR0) : COLOR { return c; } technique ColorTech { pass P0 { // Specify the vertex and pixel shader associated with this pass. vertexShader = compile vs_2_0 ColorVS(); pixelShader = compile ps_2_0 ColorPS(); } } gWVP will contain World, View and Projection matrix. I don't understand how the graphics cards know to take specifically posH and calculated from it the eventual screen coordinates. The code does not mention it anywhere, what if I had also POSITION1? Does the graphic card has a default behaviour of taking POSITION0 as the homogeneos coordinates to calculate screen coordinates? I would appreciate if you could clarify this to me. Thanks in advance.
  5. I am just learnning the Direct3D shaders (2.0). I obviously should make classes to use the shaders and directX functinaliry, instead of using it directly in my game. What should be the attitude of encapsulating the Direct3D API? What are your suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  6. Ewwww...

I hate anything that comes from the sea. Fish smell like satan's breath to me. They taste like sea water mixed with sewage. Upon consumption of the defiled flesh, I feel the urge to puke. I am also unable to drink anything with soda in it, like coke, 7up and all this crap. It makes my throat hurt, it also tastes like anti cough syrop. What else? I don't like coconut either. But I love choclate and red meat! yummy!
  7. Trouble creating a window

Solved the problem. I should have sent the hWnd as parameter to msgProc, which I did not. And use it with the DefWindowProc.
  8. Trouble creating a window

Ok, I solved part of the problem. Because I returned 0 and not DefWindowProc () it didnt work. However, I have another problem. I want to pass the window procedure as a parameter to the ControlMain class. If I use WNDPROC to pass a window procedure as parameter, then on creation I get NULL and last error, 1400.
  9. I used to create a window successfuly with normal functions. Now I tried to insert this process into a class, but eventhough I copied the code that worked, the CreateWindow returns NULL and with no error indication. Here is the code: class ControlMain { public: void Initialize (HINSTANCE A_hPrevInstance, HINSTANCE A_hThisInstance, WNDPROC A_WindowProcedure, StreamString A_Version); int RunApplication(); LRESULT msgProc(UINT msg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam); ControlMain(); private: virtual void ApplicationStart(); virtual void ApplicationHandle(); virtual void ApplicationEnd(); bool MainCreateWindow(); void HandleWindowStateChange (); bool bException; bool bActivate; bool bMinimized; bool bQuit; bool bReady; DirectXError GeneralError; ErrorType ErrorType; WNDPROC WindowProcedure; HINSTANCE hThisInstance, hPrevInstance; HWND hWnd; MemberClass<WindowDimentions> WindowChanger; MemberClass<RestoreHandle> Restorer; ErrorHandle ErrH; MemberClass<LogFile> LogF; }; LRESULT CALLBACK WndProc2 (HWND hWnd, UINT msg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam) { return 0; } bool ControlMain::MainCreateWindow() { WNDCLASS wc; DWORD flags; if (this->hPrevInstance == NULL) { wc.style = CS_HREDRAW | CS_VREDRAW; wc.lpfnWndProc = WndProc2; // wc.lpfnWndProc = this->WindowProcedure; wc.cbClsExtra = 0; wc.cbWndExtra = sizeof(DWORD); wc.hInstance = this->hThisInstance; wc.hIcon = NULL;//LoadIcon(hThisInstance, MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDI_ICON1)); wc.hCursor = LoadCursor(this->hThisInstance, IDC_ARROW); wc.hbrBackground = (HBRUSH)GetStockObject(BLACK_BRUSH); wc.lpszMenuName = NULL; wc.lpszClassName = "ENVIRO"; if (!RegisterClass(&wc)) return false; } flags = WS_POPUP | WS_VISIBLE | WS_EX_TOPMOST | WS_SYSMENU; flags = /*WS_POPUP | WS_MAXIMIZE |*/ WS_EX_TOPMOST | WS_VISIBLE; flags = WS_OVERLAPPEDWINDOW; /* if (bResizingDisabled) flags = WS_VISIBLE | WS_OVERLAPPED | WS_CAPTION | WS_SYSMENU | WS_MINIMIZEBOX | WS_MAXIMIZEBOX; else flags = WS_OVERLAPPEDWINDOW;*/ this->hWnd = CreateWindow ( "ENVIRO", // Class "a", // Title bar flags, CW_USEDEFAULT, // Init. x pos CW_USEDEFAULT, // Init. y pos 400, // Init. x size 400, // Init. y size NULL, // Parent window NULL, // Menu handle this->hThisInstance, // Program handle NULL // Create parms ); DWORD Error; Error = GetLastError(); if (!this->hWnd) return false; return true; } Thanks in advance.
  10. Well that was fast (warnning: rating ranting or rating rattling)

Quote:Original post by capn_midnight It's because you keep making it an issue. Don't talk about ratings. Just shut up about it. You get rated down because nobody likes a whiney cry-baby. I don't remember talking much about my ratings, but I also don't remember what I ate this launch, so take that in consideration. It isn't that important anyway, just had a thought.

Even without that, my chances to reproduce are minute. Its the genital version of a preemptive preventatory strike, Then lets instead negotiate on a paper agreement that I wont reproduce.

  13. ID3DXSprite questions

Quote:Original post by streamer I had similar problem when I used scaled sprites, but I had whole game world scaled and when I added: D3DXMATRIX mat; D3DXMatrixIdentity(&mat); m_pSprite->SetTransform(&mat); everything worked fine. And C modest god, how can you have user rating of 0? [smile] Ops now its 8 ;) Well eventually I simply set an orthogonal projection and it fixed the problem. It seemed that on a different computer I didnt have this problem. Perhaps some computers have a default behaviuor for sprites of orthogonal projection? Thanks for the rating up, but my rating is beyond repair. As soon as you rate me up other people will rate me down. It is sort of like stock market.
  14. I got rated up for about 34 rating points. Now my ratings is just 5 (Yay! I can spend it in the lounge!) I didnt post anything awkward in the time I got rated down. Does this proove that a person (or a monster) with a low rating has no chance of being rated up, because the moment someont sees a person with such a low rating he would rate him down? I call this phenomena the: "Zero rating sink". I am just wondering. Feel free to delete this post if it annoys you. No thanks in advance.
  15. If each time I am setting the view matrix for the camera, I will also set the projection matrix (even if it doesnt change). Will it have any actual performance issue? Or is it "free"? Thanks in advance.
