  3. Hi, I'm trying to learn win32, and it's been difficult. I probably will just move on to something easier, but I would like to know. I know you append to an edit box like this. SendMessage(hwnd, EM_REPLACESEL, 0, (LPARAM)text); But how would I make it go to the next line? I know you could just hit enter, but what If im loading data that I need to be on seperate lines that user has nothing to do with? I've tried looking through msdn and I get really confused. I am fairly new to all this win32 stuff.

    win32 get list box text

    thanks it works great now.
  5. Hi i have this function to get whatever the selected items text, my compiler says that it can't convert void * to TCHAR * where the calloc() function is. But when I run code I have from the Programming Windows book it works just fine. Any ideas? char *SelectedItem() { int iLength = SendMessage(m_hControl, LB_GETTEXTLEN, SelectedIndex(), 0) + 1; TCHAR *item; item = calloc(iLength, sizeof(TCHAR)); SendMessage(m_hControl, LB_GETTEXT, SelectedIndex(), (LPARAM)item); return item; }
  6. its impossible not to use some dynamic language such as javascript or php. Since it uses tables the news sections flows one right after the other, but with out tables you need to know where to set the div or span or whatever dynamically. Since you don't know how big the news article is going to be you can't have set numbers because then some articles might overlap or have gaps between them. You need something like javascript, php or some scripting language to tell how big the div is and then put the next article after that one.
  7. so what does GCL_HICON change?
  8. Hi how do I change the icon in the title bar. I have a custom window class that creates a window with the default IDI_APPLICATION icon. I want to inherit the class and then be able to change the icon. I looked at msdn and it said to do this. void Icon(int icon) { SetClassLongPtr(m_hWnd, GCL_HICON, (LONG)LoadIcon(m_hInst, MAKEINTRESOURCE(icon))); } But it doesn't change, is there something I am missing.
  9. Hello, I'm used to copying tutorials to learn how to do things. I want to know what its really doing though. What I am talking about are the transform states that the device uses. I'm just going to guess based on what I think they do. the D3DTS_WORLD transforms world space to a specific location. The D3DTS_VIEW transforms the camera of what will be display in world space. D3DTS_PROJECTION is how things are projected into world space. I don't know any others. So let me put these items into a class. D3DTS_WORLD would be used to move objects around, D3DTS_VIEW would be for a camera, D3DTS_PROJECTION would be used for how things would look so I would put it into like a scene manager or something. If anyone knows these are correct could you please explain maybe a little bit more than I can, I'm just really guessing, and if there are others that you know what they do please post. thanks

    Creating a Card Game/Site

    use the language that is easiest for you. then at least you know how everythings works together. I usually do that then I try to do it in other languages. are you saying that they use a web page to play the game. If so then you could use asp .net with visual basic or c#, c# isn't that hard to learn. Or you could use java, which is a little bit of a learning curve.
  12. It says no such file or directory. edit the ../ in front worked thanks you guys
  13. Hi I have some header files in a subdirectory and I want to include them in my main header. I don't want to add the folder to the directories link in the project I just want to do something like this #include "/folder/class.h" but for some reason its not finding it.
  14. I had that problem and microsoft changed it to verts[0].Position = new Vector3(0f, 0f, 0f); thats what I had to do. the poster above I think is right too.
