  1. Copying the debth buffer

    What part of openGl controls this? I looked though the redbooks for a few different versions and couldn't find anything useful. My intention is to render debth in one color channel with additive layers for delta of the debth buffer per frame in a different color channel. I thought you could render just debth buffer but only found references to coping from the debth buffer to a texture. Hence asking about the bit conversion. If I could get openGL to render only the debth buffer to an 8bit texture that would be great. Thanks Alex
  2. How would one copy the debth buffer into a color channel? If the d-buffer is 24bit does it need to be manully convereted to 8bit? Thanks
