  1. Anyone tried to run Lightwave3D under Linux on top of Wine libraries? Is this a stable and reliable solution and I would get the same results as expected in Windows? If NOT the case then why Newtek, Autodesk, and others don't support Linux if it's really a good alternative in CG world? At least Maya PLE should be avauilbe for Linux before Windows, i dunno????!!!!

    RPM Dependencies?

Hi When I want to install a new package or a kicko-off program, I get an rpm failed depndencies: ... bla bla bla, .so .so and so what I usually do is look for rpm that provides those .so's and then recursively the same problem until I get everything done. Is there a better means that I can just list all the rpm and resolve the dependencies without trying every rpm and lib? Yum? I don't want to. Thanks!
  5. Hi Having experiemented with penGL vertex programs make it somehow not easy to understadn how HLSL works. I wonder when we declare a uniform variable in HLSL, does not neccessarily correspond to a built-in structure like the modelview matrix? And if not hw many varialbes can we declare as uniforms? What make sme ask so is that in OpenGL ARB vertex programs it used to be a built-in time that we fill and access in the vertex program, rather than declaring a special one. Does HLSL allow variables in video/GPU memory? Thanks.
  6. Here is the most ever hardest issue in C++. How to make a virtual call inside a constructor, forcing the the correct virtual function to be called withing the constructor. I tried a solution but it did not work, to wrap the virtual function inside a local non-virtual function and call it instead. IT NOT WORK LIKE THAT! How?
  7. Hi What's the way to start programming Windows Forms using pure C++? Is it possible or do I need to use Mananged or C++/CLI? Anyway Using Visaul Studion 2005 Express (VC++) how to start? No C# please.

Need help with ATI linux driver errors

Again After installing the latest ATI linux driver under Fedora Core 5 x86_64 edition I got the following errors in the fglrx log file: ###### Cannot load the built module. Any idea how to fix that? And by the way they say in the documentation installed by the driver that 2.4 or newer is only suuported, and 2,6 is yet to come in the forthcoming releases. How come? Thank!

Need help with ATI linux driver errors

I fixed the above compile and link errors by installing the latest ATI driver. But after sucessfully building the module, it reports an error that the built module cannot be loaded. What's the problem? How to fix it? Before I try FC5 I heard that the UI will be accelarated, and now cannot get a minimal OpenGL acceleration for games.

    Linux FC5, Guess What?

It should be called Fedore Core Fucked Up Version instead. I installed the following sources and unable to compiled with errors, strange. Compile time errors (syntax errors) OpenMotif src and xine-lib src Adobe Reader is not launching The gui package manager connects to server without asking it to do so ATI drivers are not installing properly, linking to missing kernel or so ... What to do?

    Linux FC5, Guess What?

Ok. To summarize the main problems: 1. Trying to install a software which needs but I have so.6, I installed the comapt lib and hence the so.5 is available, but still cannot run the sotware (RealPlayer) 2. Using the Add/Rem Package manager: It works only when I connect to the internet. And tries to retrieve info and updates from the net, while I ahve the Fedora DVD, source of my installation. How to add packages then without accessing the net. 3. Adobe Acroreader 7.05 installed, when started, it showes the Logo box and then quit immediately. What could be the problem? The libstdc++ again? 4. ATI drivers are not easy to install...I will chaeck that site and see, but not before I fix the above problems first. Thanks.
