    Half Life 1

    Hi, Does anybody know how to make a monster in half life move to a specified position just using the half life code? I'm trying to get a Human Grunt to provide covering fire for a team mate when they need to reload. I have created the Schedule and Task list needed for this except it is missing the part where a grunt will go to another grunt's aid. They will be the same as the Task and Schedule for "TakeCoverFromEnemy" except the task "TASK_FIND_COVER_FROM_ENEMY" line. This is where I mean to add in the line which will make the Human Grunt travel to their team mate. Task_t tlTakeCoverFromEnemy[] = { { TASK_STOP_MOVING, (float)0 }, { TASK_WAIT, (float)0.2 }, { TASK_FIND_COVER_FROM_ENEMY, (float)0 }, { TASK_RUN_PATH, (float)0 }, { TASK_WAIT_FOR_MOVEMENT, (float)0 }, { TASK_REMEMBER, (float)bits_MEMORY_INCOVER}, { TASK_FACE_ENEMY, (float)0 }, { TASK_WAIT, (float)1 }, }; Schedule_t slTakeCoverFromEnemy[] = { { tlTakeCoverFromEnemy, ARRAYSIZE ( tlTakeCoverFromEnemy ), bits_COND_NEW_ENEMY, 0, "tlTakeCoverFromEnemy" }, }; Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, 1stMan.

    Regarding Actionscript

    Hi, I have used actionscript and I must say that it is pretty simple. There are some similarities between actionscript and C++ but its a lot closer to something like visual basic. Basically, if you can code in C++, then you would have no trouble learning Actionscript. I have no idea of what version it's on these days, but the last time I used it, it was at Flash MX. It has really good turoials built into it that helped me to go on to code flash games. Even coders with hardly any experience at all can learn Actionscript. Hope that helps. 1stMan.

    Half Life Coding

    Hi, Is there anyone here familiar with half life 1 coding? If so, my problem is this: I've been trying to get the human grunt to follow the player for ages and I just don't seem to be able to do it. As the Hgrunt.cpp file derives from squadmonster.cpp, it doesn't have any of the "follow" code in it which there is in the talkmonster.cpp (which is where the scientists and barney's derive from). I've tried multiple inheritance and it got messy and failed. I also tried modifying the squadmonster.cpp file to include all the "follow" related code from talkmonster.cpp and I just don't seem to be able to do it. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could offer any help at all on the matter. Thanks, 1stMan.

    Missing an include file

    Quote:Original post by Fruny Your best bet is probably to port the code to SDL. It should be easy enough to figure out the correspondances by inferring what the functions are supposed to do from both their names and the context. How do you do that?

    Oh and I'm using Visual Studio.

    Missing an include file

    Ok thanks. Do you know where I can get it from?
  9. Hi, Thanks for fixing my last poblem so fast everyone. Now then, a problem I'm having now is that an include file is missing from a program I am trying to run. At the top of the program it includes <graphics.h> but its not actually included in the project. The website I got it from doesn't seem to have it. Is it a standard file I can get from somewhere or is it user created. I know it has something to do with the <> or "" but I'm not sure which one is which. Thanks.

    Running a program

    Yeah that is what I've done. I had no idea which one to choose so I just guessed. I'll try the console based one. Thanks a lot for the help.

    Running a program

    I'm a real beginner and I'm sorry for the level of question this is, but I have a problem running some code. I copied the code from a website that said this: "...we have included a small program written in "C". If you have a C compiler, try it out. It is a complete working program." I've tried running the code and just can't get it to work? Can somebody please help? I've put the code below. Thanks. #include "stdio.h" #define MaxIters 200 #define SIZE 80 #define BLACK -1 #define LEFT -2.0 #define RIGHT 1.0 #define TOP 1.0 #define BOTTOM -1.0 main(int argc, char *argv[]) { short x, y, count; long double zr, zi, cr, ci; long double rsquared, isquared; for (y = 0; y < SIZE; y++) { for (x = 0; x < SIZE; x++) { zr = 0.0; zi = 0.0; cr = LEFT + x * (RIGHT - LEFT) / SIZE; ci = TOP + y * (BOTTOM - TOP) / SIZE; rsquared = zr * zr; isquared = zi * zi; for (count = 0; rsquared + isquared <= 4.0 && count < MaxIters; count++) { zi = zr * zi * 2; zi += ci; zr = rsquared - isquared; zr += cr; rsquared = zr * zr; isquared = zi * zi; } if (rsquared + isquared <= 4.0) printf("*"); else printf(" "); } printf("\n"); } return 0; }
