  1. Sanity check, does your binding go both ways? Are you doing winforms or WPF?
  2. Trading Federal Income Tax Cut for SS payroll tax cut. Good idea?

Cutting the social security tax. That's not a compromise, thats a surrender.
  3. You can render to a texture of 320x200 and use a linear scaling method to make it full screen.
  4. So it's really a C++ problem? Sockets aren't incredibly complicated. I would suggest Beej's guide for learning BSD sockets. http://beej.us/guide/bgnet/. Whats the goal here, why between two different platforms. Are you aware of Mono and OpenTK on linux?
  5. Dev-C++ doesn't work anymore

The sad thing is that somebody is still forking over money to host this...
  6. SDL and opengl?

http://www.sfml-dev.org/ - This does the hardware accelerated OpenGL sprites you are looking for and will probably save you a chunk of time.
  7. Best Game Engine for Beginners

love2d - http://love2d.org/ - uses lua, lots of examples. it's pretty simple to learn. and for 3d, well, theres Unity.
  8. Turn Based Game Engine?

http://www.vassalengine.org/ found this with a quick googling. good luck!
  9. Starting Game programming.. Java?

lwgl and jogl are kind of old hat... I would give this a shot if you are serious about sticking with Java. http://www.jmonkeyengine.com/
  10. My housemate bought a unicycle instead of paying the bills

Beat him to near death with it.
  11. Xbox 360 vs PS3..

Quote:Original post by shurcool Just give it some time before they start getting full developer attention, some AAA games and hopefully even existing PS3/Xbox 360 games (if bought by Sony/MS). Actually, it may take a few years, but it is the future. Maybe, if you like RPGs and other slow moving games. But for anything critical, where you may need to time a jump or use quick-time actions, you're hosed. http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20483 minimum latency between pressing a button and seeing something happen on the screen is going to be 20ms for a round trip. And thats not an infrastructure issue, thats the speed of light. Maybe if the games were cheap, but they aren't. Maybe if storage space was a concern, but it isn't. Maybe if system performance was a huge problem but it's not.
  12. Sony PSP.... phone??

Quote:Original post by Alpha_ProgDes Sony PSP phone maybe coming soon I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. The last company, Nokia, tried this and failed miserably. But. Sony already has both a phone market and games market. So on paper at least, this seems to be a good thing. Though, hopefully they are still going to bump up the hardware for the phone. Phones now have 1GB RAM, 1GB ROM, and 8GB of HDD. Plus! a slot for another 16 to 32GB of storage. Best NES emulator/phone combo ever.
  13. [.net] XML parsing

Dude, why not just use XML serialization and deserialization? http://www.dotnetjohn.com/articles.aspx?articleid=173
  14. [.net] WinForms Skins

Thats really what WPF is for, I'm afraid. You could dynamically generate your UI as well, but that makes it harder for other people to inspect.
  15. [web] Help with website

I'm not really sure what this has to do with game development. You want to put up a web site and make money from it? What do you like to do? Is it something other people like to do? Is there any money in making it available to others?
