2D Platformer

Details

Hi guys.. im trying to develop a 2d platformer, based on ancient 16bits technology.. jewels of gaming like super metroid, demon's crest, Contra, Solbrain, and more..

my knowledge of code and programing is almost nule but i've been watching some tutorials on youtube on basic coding for gamemaker studio 2 and so far i've managed to set my scenario and a player to run on it, also some parallax and not much else..

my skills are mostly graphic; 3dsmax, photoshop, aseprite, basic Zbrush...

Your art looks amazing. I just started using GameMaker myself a few months ago, and still learning. Keep up the good work.

If you are starting in game maker, try to not make too many objects. One object can draw buttons and check if you click them. You dont need an object for each button. That was one of my begiiner mistakes, now I try to use rather more scripts than more objects. Scripts are easier to check and reusable.

Yeah, using scripts makes it a lot easier to change or update things later on too.

You should create a blog and post some updates for the future.

That's ok.  You can create a blog and dedicate it to your art endeavours.  As you come up with more work to show-case you can add more entries to your blog and then tie your blog to the greater project, being this page.
