1. Ultima Online
Upsides: Dynamic, only plots about was the plots you made. Extremly high playability. Great UI design
Downsides : Kids got their hands on the game and destroyed the community. The game company only cared about potential customers and newcomers rather than focusing on the already paying customers.
2. Zelda (the original)
Upsides: Big maps, good story, good interface, revolutionary rpg.
Downsides: ...
3. Superfrog
Upsides: Damn fun platform game, good graphics, high speed.
Downsides: ...
4. Quake 1
Upsides: Great graphics, speed and action.
Downsides: Fired of a discusting trend in the games industry.
5. Tetris
Upsides: Everyone can/want to play it and enjoy it. High playability.
Downsides: You cant stop before you beat all your family members and friends.

upside: got more side stories and quests than you can shake a stick at; the only RPG i would play over and over again, and still feel misty when Aeris dies
downside: everybody looks like legos (ie. doesn't have FF VIII character graphics)

upside: my goodness! how many suits/costumes does Mario have?? gameplay goodness
downside: it's not for any of the systems i have now... i miss my nintendo....

I really wish more games had followed this example, instead of concentrating on Wolfenstein, inspired partly by one of the workers on Ultima Underworld.
