Getting started in modding?

Hey there, I''m thinking about modding a bit. I''m not sure what kind of mods I want to make, but I have some ideas. I could use NWN, because I have that. I am playing the UT2k3 demo like crazy, so I think I might buy that. I also am interested in U2. I think that I should probably mod U2 or UT2k3, as I here they are the best to mod. Are there any resources to help me get started? Does anyone have experience with this? If so, what is it like? Thanks!

yer, get gmax. a free modelling tool (a cut down version of 3dsmax). Get a game that has a gamepack for gmax, like c&c renegade. Tis good for noobies.

It's good for the kidneys.

Okay. If you want to mod NwN, you can do it with me, and we can botth learn! UT 2003 may be easier. First, get to know the level editor. Try creating simple levels. Find a community Isite, and read tutorials on the editor. If you have ever used GtkRadiant or QeRadiant, the editor should be a breeze. Next, learn modelers. You can use gmax and Maya. Use Maya Personal Learning Edition and GMAX. GMAX is free, and good for modeling. Maya is good for level design. Learn how to model and animate units, weapons, environmental models, and levels. Finnaly, texture. Texturing is hard, but if you want to become a good modder, you will probaly learn it. As for NwN, get with me. I have some experience with the editor. One more thing for UT 2003. Gom to cliffyb.com. This is a website by Cliff Blezinski, and has good UT tips.

This is green.
This is black.

That's where you need to start for UT2k3 modding. Trust me.

3dBuzz.com has put togethor a website showing how to MOD a lot of the aspects and use the UNREAL egine.

*Note this is more on the 3d/Art/Level side than the programming side.

Worth Checking out as it contains video tutorials...etc. I''m sure a wealth of information that would benefit a lot of people.

I made this post a while back as an announcement. I''m tired and its too much trouble to link.(I''m lazy) So this is a repost. If you are looking for some more forums to check out, head to 3d buzz also. They have a UT modding forum last time i was there.
