Whats with all the RPGs everyone is making here? Lets see some good 3D action/adventure games...

Adventure games are dead.

They´re too much work for a hobbyist to create (especially with non-linear plots) and since the sierra branch closed ...
we won´t be seeing any more of Larry..

Sorry

PS: I think that the same goes for good RPGs. THere´s a lot of good ideas around but unless someone big gobbles them up there´s not much chance of them being realised(IMHO). No one be mad, please, but i guess that´s the way it is.

I´d be glad if you could prove me wrong though....
I''m in the process of making a action/adventure game.
It''s a thrilling game having a strong story
(A story at least )

I''ve designed a RPG that will be one of my next project, cause after the thrilling one I will make a MMO game with many other people...
And cause we aren''t clueless all will be mathematically defined in the game... Much freedom and never ending ''research''.
Forget to mention it''s a spatial game.

No one wants to take risks with innovation. Look at Looking Glass Studios.
The Sims, a top selling game, had trouble finding funding. Bet the publishers are happy now.
Innovation is a risk. But when it pays off....

BOOM!
JeranonGame maker wannabe.
It looks to me like they are blending into the same thing. Adventure games started to have divergent plots and more complexity, RPGs started to become more graphically impressive and puzzle based.

My guess is that a great deal of adventure game lovers found they could survive on RPGs as well, then just didn''t complain when new Adventure games became sparse.

Most of what is being talked about seems like it is getting closer and closer to an adventure game feel in RPGs. I would much rather the end result of this mating be called Adventure rather than "Role-playing Games", which is an entirely inaccurate title. Oh well.

I want to see a massively multi-player online fighting game. You''d need a cable modem to play it, but imagine Tekken set in an EverQuest environment...now instead of hacking goblins to death you could run around body slamming them.
Sorry, but i gave up on fighting games a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
time ago. Its the same sh!t over and over.
One super fast char, one slow power char,
2 chars who are related.
xxxx move combos made by typing in xxx
symbols quickly.
I haven''t seen a truly original fighting game in a long
time. Hell, i haven''t seen a really original game of
any genre for a few years now*quickly moves this idea to a new post*

I believe one is in the making over at
www.atypical-interactive.com
In fact, I know one is in the making and it looks pretty nice. I think the official plug for the game (Enigma) will follow shortly

I suppose I''ll enter on that cue Thanks ragonastick.

Yes, we are making a new and (dare I say) revolutionary adventure game in realtime 3D over at Atypical Interactive that will PROVE that the adventure genre is not dead! How could it be? Enigma sports a great story with lots of interesting characters, new and nonlinear puzzles dealing with real-world skills ... take a look at the site, THEN decide if you''d like to play it! Don''t just discard it cause it''s an adventure game!
