Does anyone know of any massively outdoor FPS games besides Tribes/Tribes II (I''ve got those on order). I have decided that since I have the tools to do it, but not the skill (I can get it the hardway) to go along with the human/goblin conflict game that I had mentioned in the ''End Goblin Genocide'' (p6). I am writing up the design docs, and want to see what has been done to steal/clone ideas (no shame in that ). Check out my progress on the Ge Game engine at GeGames.com

I try to know something about every game out there because people ask me a lot of questions about games. Kind of a self fueling activity, because the more they ask, the more I find out, and the more I know, so since I know it, they are more likely to ask me again later.

Anyways, I can''t know everything about every game out there, and I am hoping that there are people who might know of a few games I don''t. I guess not . I am surprised that I forgot about pay-for-play Everquest and Ashereon''s Call (or however you spell it). I really do want to know of any FPS/TPS/3D RPGs games that take place in a massively outdoor world.

Someone should make a FPS/TPS network game based on the paintball games people play in real life. That''d be cool!

You could play in forests, or in an urban setting with houses. Everytime you got hit, you''d get a point, after a certain amount of time, the person with the lowest score, wins. Or, you might want two values recorded, number of times hit, number of times you hit someone else.

But I think this could be good, family fun. No real violence, noone dies, but you still get to shoot at your best friend!

You should also be able to climb trees, then take someone out from above.

Aw, I''m sure someone''s already made it. I should do an online search and see if I can find one.

Hmmm, well, I found a really suckey tile based one but no 3D one. Well, if someone needs an idea for a game, there you go!

Oh, and you could dynamically modify the skins of the characters and terrain to show the paint splats!

I couldn''t name such a game ''Paint Ball'' since everyone has bad memories over the publisher rushed game ''Paint Brawl'' based on a Doom-like engine. I was thinking of adding a gore setting that goes from ''Splatter'' to ''Stun'' but a ''Paint Ball'' version sounds all the more better than ''Stun''. Great concept! I''d just have to make the paintball color yellow or orange since red would definitely not appeal to some foreign markets.
I just got back from a weekend playin a MMNORPG where you run around outside wearing funny costumes hitting eachother with padded weapons. While the models may not be nearly as breathtaking as the best models, the lighting effects were awesome, with dynamic cast shadows, realistic atmospheric effects, excellent animations and the best collision detection I''ve ever experienced.

Oh, and NO LAG.

Except early in the morning, before you''ve had your caffeine.

I really hope somebody else gets that last post, too.
