Taking a break from programming I looked in to some MAME games. I like to run Emulators and play old classics from days of being a kid - ah the memories :D. It can be great way to find creative ideas for your next game. So what do you consider as the best / original game(s)? One of my favourates was Bubble Bobble. Another was Gauntlet. Im sure theres something Im missing but maybe I''ll remember later ;D [ Hazard Ball on Gamedev | Hazard Ball Website | Genaside Website ]

I remember the simpsons game being good, but I can''t find a good rom of it anywhere. If anyone has it let me know. Other than that, I like Shadow Force a lot.

Ninja Turtles ^_^
Ghouls and Ghosts absolutely does my nut in!
It is infuriatingly difficult and I can''t make it past level 2!

Irrespective of that it exudes a charm that just screams nostalgia. It is a first class representation of classic videogaming and certainly has that special something. I have no idea why I like it, considering that it drives me insane, but I love it.

Oh yeh, Ninja turtles for sure. I remember that a ninja turtles game was the VERY first game I had for my pc back in about 89 or summin. It was so cool, it had a 64kb harddrive (A HARDRIVE!) with a 486 processer. What a beast. I actually remeber the first game I played was a game where you had to keep a stick figure from running into walls and guide him to the end of the maze. It was a beasty monochrome monitor with what I would guess was a 286 cpu!!

Sorry, getting off topic

Umm, I had a 210MB hard drive on my 386, how the hell did you get a 64KB hard drive on your 486?
Maybe it was RAM? My *286* had a 40mb harddrive (but I think it had more than 64kb RAM)

Ahh. I remember the good ol days when back when I had a 486SX 25Mhz System with a full 128MB hard drive. God I hated that thing. Never had any room for anything. Life is much easier now with a modest 1.33Ghz that will magicly transforming into XP2600 in a few days. As for ROMs Hmmmmm. Don''t know. I have to many to realy pick one. Old Neo-Geo King of Fighters suff. I prefer newer stuff generaly though. Old games were kinda shallow and hard to look at. 2D pre SNES and 3D pre Dreamcast aren''t realy something I want to play. It was fine as a kid but not now. Afew are ok say, Joust is awsome. I guess there is a MAME rom for it.

I liked my 486DX, it could play Descent 2 and ZZT.

Toki was pretty good. Mario 3 was definitely the best though.
