I can program in C at this point.... and i've started learning C++. I (hope) guess I have enough programming experience to get into the game programming etc. stuff. I want a book that would teach me how to program games in "pure english" hrmm.. well I want a game programming book that assumes that i've never ever programmed a game before... a book for "Newbies". What are some of the good books out there that might help me get started?

Although it has been said many times, many ways (hehehehe =), Andre Lamothe''s Tips of the Windows Game Programming Gurus is your best bet (in my humble opinion). You might also want to try his simpler Windows Game Programming for Dummies too =)

Just for your info, there is a new section on GDNet called Start Here! With this new board, I don''t know what all works, so here''s the url for you to copy and paste: http://www.gamedev.net/reference/start_here/

This section is for newbies interested in starting game development. It details all you need to know to get started, including suggested books.
