One last note.. if the sporadic influx of new contacts is getting too much, just tell me and I can remove you from this opening post.
It will probably help to settle the level of the group too.
<!--EDIT--><span class=editedby><!--/EDIT-->[Edited by - Defend on February 8, 2006 12:34:15 AM]<!--EDIT--></span><!--/EDIT-->
Looking for some intermediate coders to add to my MSN list
I basically want a few more programming contacts on my MSN list to discuss ideas or coding concepts with.. or to hassle each other about bugs. If
your coding level is anywhere from basic OO and up, please add me. I'm not fussed about which language you're using, but I'm only decent in C++
and rusty in Java if you need to ask for help. - EDIT - DirectX users especially welcome, I still have very few DirectX contacts. :/
I'm working on a 2D platformer using Direct3D in C++, still in its early stages. The technical side of the graphics is done, with the focus on minimising
calls to DrawPrimitive(). Sound and input have been tested but not implemented, and I am currently designing the collision detection system.
defendjc@hotmail.com - I'm Dan btw.
Anyone that can code their way though the typical concepts of OO is welcome to add their name to the general group. Just reply with your MSN
address and make yourself known a little. =] A tiny summary of what you like to code in, or what you have worked on would be great, and then I'll
copy your address to the list below. Remember, this means anyone can try to add you to their contacts list, but you can of course deny their
request through MSN.
For those worried about getting too many additions, you can always check the thread when someone asks to add you. If they posted their address
here, you'll be able to find their description in the recent replies and then decide if you want to allow them or not. This has the added advantage
of being tougher on those who don't provide a description of themselves.
Otherwise, feel free to use this thread just to collect your own contacts. You don't need to add me if my background doesn't suit you, but I
welcome anyone who does. :) If you want to keep your address private, you can add me without replying here, and I won't post your address in
this thread or connect you to any MSN group discussions that might arise, unless you request it.
Cheers!
Others who are happy to display their MSN address here are:
Sounds great. I've been wanting to get some good programming contacts lately to discuss ideas and such, because I have basically no such contacts and don't really know how to go about getting them, me being the recluse that I am. It seems to me like it would be a great way to learn. I'm pretty good with OOD in Java and next I want to move to C++ (or maybe C#?) and learn a graphics API.

Feel free to email me with questions this holiday season (while I'm off work)
I'm a professional game developer with shipped titles on platforms ranging from the Nintendo DS to (currently) the Xbox 360.
I always like to know what indie developers are interested in but I never have the time to listen. :-D

To others looking for contacts, Dragoncar <dragoncarweb@hotmail.com> is happy to display his address here, feel free to add him.
Cyntacs, thanks for the offer. However it is likely that my questions would be mainly about coding difficulties.. so I doubt you'd get much indication of what I'm interested in. On top of that, I don't think about making games so much as I do just this particular game.
If I/we have questions I think won't be too tiresome for you, or too high level for me, I'll send them your way.

Didn't mean to scare you off. I used to be indie, too, you know.

I'll be adding some people definately, having a messenger ring sounds alot quicker than relying on forums, not that we're trying to replace good ol' gamedev though :D.
I've been working with C++ for over a year now and I am a beginner with OpenGL, if I ask you to fix a bug its usually because I'm absent minded and forgot something silly. :)

Sounds good, my MSN is imnottheonlychris@gmail.com
I've been learning C++ the past couple of years (on and off) and I'm starting to get into SDL then I might move on to DirectX.
