Dropping Windows for BE

Here''s an announcement: I''ve ordered BEOS Pro and will start to try to develop in it. Got tired of Windows. Is there anyone here who is just starting with Be (but already knows some programming) and would like to join me in this new adventure?
(Please don''t start a flame war... I don''t want to read about how some OS is better than the other, this is a personnal choice please respect it. And yes, I am aware that BE seems almost dead, it''s for the fun, not for the money. Thanks)

About BeOS website There are also some mailing lists and newsgroups. Check the developer''s section on www.be.com.
I''m doing c/c++ stuff only right now, nothing Be specific so I don''t hang around those places myself, YET.

By the way, I hope you ordered it from the Gobe website, www.gobe.com I believe. They are having a sale (we think prior to the release of R6) on the Pro edition of 5, the BeOS Bible & Gobe Productive productivity Suite 2.0.

Thanks for the links. I did order it from Gobe. But I didn''t take the Bible pack. Just the Gobe program and BEOS. Does the Bible has programming infos or is it just like a manual for the OS?

It's kind of like an unofficial User's Guide. Pretty cool if you're just getting started with Be. There is a programming book by O'Reilly called PROGRAMMING THE BE OPERATING SYSTEM but it's a little outdated. That's why I recommend the sites above and the mailing lists.....
Also, you can go to IRC on Efnet I believe and go to #bedev.
There is alos a program for Be called BeShare that is a community type thing like Hotline for Be users only. Lots of developers hang out on there.
Also there is a Hotline client, can't remember name. Check www.bebits.com and search for hotline.
This client is the exclusive client for a Be hotline community that is listed in the description for the client.

I''ve just ordered "Be Advanced Topics". I''ve read what is said about "Programming the Be Operating System" and it seemed a little to basic for my knowledge. So I''ll try the advanced one.

Good luck. I'm still learning c/c++ so I'm not a lot of help there. Another place I almost forgot about is:
