That's a pretty big gotcha in of itself as you mentioned earlier.

Thank you for the reasonable reply by the way. I know there are a lot of dopes that come on messageboards like this one and will drop a completely uninformed/inflammatory comment at random. I'm not one of them. I prefer meaningful exchanges over flame wars. I'm primarily on gamedev.net to learn and help out in any way I can.

What I shared in this thread is from some of my experience both 1st hand and 2nd hand over the years working in and out of game studios. The .NET stigma is fading but it is still largely present.

It's a gotcha, sure, but that's an issue with the coder, not with the language/runtime. I feel that .NET has the same order of performance gotchas that unmanaged code does, it's just that they're not all in the same places.
