Does anyone know of a resource I could use to learn how to design a football game? Anyone have experience designing a sports game? Think its harder/easier than "traditional games"?

Seems like if you know the rules of the sport you're trying to make a game out of, it should be no harder than making a normal game.

That being said... creating a *commercial* sports game is next to impossible, unless you pick a niche sport... otherwise you're competing with EA, who not only has incredible games, but IIRC, exclusive deals with the NBA/NFL/whatever for player names / stats / etc.

Football is a pretty hard sport to simulate. You will have to control a lot of characters at the same time and do a lot of physics too.
