I''ve used NeHe''s code for using textured quads for fonts but modified it for my own use a little. The problem i''m having though is that after a whole screen of text is written, the framerate seriously drops. Is there a faster way to display fonts on the screen, not particuluarly individual letters, but actually complete strings of text.

I use display lists for my text. The code is right out of the red book. I dont have a screen full of text, but after about 50 strings, I see no frame rate drop. I''ve used texture quads also and I cant guarantee either way is faster given my low number of text strings. Try it out in your application and see.
