What should I do if I need a very irregularly shaped surface? Say that using polygons to outline my surfaces is impractical as well as requiring a ton of processing on a large file. Is there a way to cut up a large but transparent bitmap into a bunch of rectangular textures for opengl? And can those textures have transparent holes?
1.about transparent bitmaps: yes, they can have holes inside, they can be any shape you wish 2.about cutting down a bitmap you can manually cut a bitmap into for ex. 256x256 pieces and make textures out of them.
