Status in Games

In Improv, status is defined by the relationship of one character to another. It is the pecking order; for example, your boss has higher status than you. Improv actors sometimes play games where they would flip status roles while doing the same lines. What would result are completely different situations.

I've been toying with the idea of using status in games. How would the game mechanic work? Can we achieve a level of immersion where players would give natural status responses to virtual scenarios?

The purpose of this topic is to start an educational discussion on the possibility of incorporating status into games.

Try different status responses and ask yourself the following questions. Does the situation feel different? Who is controlling the conversation? What does the girl think of the speaker?
