I didn’t discuss speed because right now my code is a huge mess of research. I kept tabs on what could be optimized in what way once I got the quality I was seeking, so the mess is just temporary. I expect to be similar in performance to NVIDIA or ATI once I am done. That means under a second for most images, maybe just a bit more for larger images.
As for mipmaps, those are typically embedded in the .DDS files. You should have them there.
