I understand that OpenGL (4.2 in particular) has more advanced functionality for PCs than OpenGL ES (2.0 in particular) does, but if an application and shader are written in OpenGL ES, is it fully compatible with a PC?

C dominates the world of linear procedural computing, which won't advance. The future lies in MASSIVE parallelism.
