I'll ignore that last bit. Well, who would all of you here cast in the sequel trilogy, assuming they're making the Thrawn trilogy or anything with Luke, Leia and Han? They have to be a little bit older, so Efron is out. (Count your blessings for that!)
I don't care for them that much, but Jake and Maggie Gylenhaal could work well as Luke and Leia. Of course they're actual brother and sister, and Maggie definitely resembles Carrie Fisher. Jake might work as Luke, too.
Han is a tougher pick. He's Harrison Ford, all the way. Ford owned that character. It's a little like trying to pick another actor to play Jack Ryan. Ben Afleck didn't work out, and now Chris Pine has that part. Chris Pine is obviously out, because Han Solo is not Captain Kirk. Karl Urban maybe? Urban is like the go-to for reboots and sequels (Dredd, Star Trek), after spending some years playing the stoic warrior type in too many movies (Chronicles of Riddick, LOTR:TT, Bourne Supremacy). He was also great in Red, I thought. But Han isn't really McCoy, either. Hmm.

The problem is you need somebody that works as funny. Ryan Reynolds maybe? Ryan Gosling or any of the good guy males in Inception would probably be decent too. IDUNNO. Han Solo is probably the hardest one to cast for.
Just to kill the issue with Midochlorians, if you transfused them, like blood, it may just not work and the cells die. Your body can also grow new cells, hence training which encourages the growth of more.
Just to leave registered here as well... I think that the next trilogy is going to be great (while half of the world think otherwise)

You may think "But I liked it when I was a kid" ... so what? Have you ever asked your parents if they liked that as well?
At least with me, my parents enjoyed going to the movies to watch cartoons and funny kid-movies.
Just as with Pixar movies that target children as main audience but have a legion of fans ranging from 20 to 80 years old. There is nothing wrong with that.
Star Wars is a fantasy/fiction/sci-fi story. Disney have all the knowledge, crew and funds to produce something great on this genre.
Watch until the end the Phantom Menace review szecs posted that you will see that George Lucas admits that the episode I screwed a lot.
And watch George's speech about why he is doing this. He thinks Disney is the one to keep the saga going.
Everyone should give the next generation a chance to watch and enjoy the saga, just as we had with the first trilogy back in the 80's and 90's.

I could not stand George's directing skills. Even the original Star Wars was painful to sit through at times. If it weren't for the thrilling second half, and the over-enthusiastic performances of Fisher, Hamill, Ford and Cushing...I would have no love for that film. I didn't mind the special editions...but for the love of christ Return of the Jedi has been butchered so much that it is now unwatchable. Really upset about it because ROTJ was my favourite movie as a child, but now its strictly Empire Strikes Back on its own. That film rocks so much.
Knowing that George was going to direct the prequels, I expected the cast of Phantom Menace to be dull and lifeless. Bingo - I was right. For all their faults, I thought the CGI characters were more energetic than their live action counterparts and, yes, that does include Jar-Jar. Episode II was a slight improvement, but for the most part the cast seem uncomfortable with George's vision and direction. Episode III wasn't too bad! For some reason the cast seemed a bit more eager in their roles and despite some dreadful lines it was a comfortable enough film to sit through. General Grevious sounded stupid but as they stand now, its my second favourite behind Empire Strikes Back.
As for new movies - don't care. We had the excellent Thrawn novel trilogy by Timothy Zahn before the prequels even arrived. Add Dark Empire and there is no need for any stories after Return of the Jedi. I will still go and see these new movies anyway, but I'm not bothered about them. They will most probably be miles better than the first four episodes IF(!) they can get a half-decent director.
Hopefully they will see sense and make epsiodes 7-9 so far into the future that it doesn't contradict the EU.
