It appears that the gentleman thought C++ was extremely difficult and he was overjoyed that the machine was absorbing it; he understood that good C++ is difficult but the best C++ is well-nigh unintelligible.

Intel's hardware has been really terrible until HD2000.
If you really want to stick with Intel, stick to GL 1.1 since their GL drivers are terrible or just go with Direct3D.
