StackOverflow-style markdown

Would it be hard to do to make composing posts use StackOverflow markdown?

If I want certain keyword to use fixed-width font, I'd use the backtick character. So if I do this:

Do not use `cin` to print a text

It would output to:

Do not use cin to print a text

It'd be nice to not use this Word-style toolbar for editing posts. It's very limiting.

There is bbcode tag for fixed width font: [tt].

Well, it's not limited to just fixed width font. But also other conveniences of being able to format your posts without having to move your hands away from keyboard.

Separate issue: I also noticed a bug recently. I used to be able to Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I for bold and italics, but not anymore.

On the separate issue, I've found the same issue with another IPS forum. So it might be something with the latest update of IPS.

On the original issue, it would be nice to just have the SO markdowns as keyboard shortcuts. Frankly, I'm not a fan of SO markdown.

There are bbcodes for all the rest, too:

[b]bold[/b], [i]italic[/i], [s]strikethrough[/s], [url=http://apple.com]linking[/url], etc.

This is the editor I'm working on.. initially it's going to be for articles though. Ultimately I want to find a way to replace the post editor but I'm not there yet. One of the cooler features is drag and drop image uploading for attachments. But it not wysiwyg.. more of an html/bbcode based editor. It does have some keyboard shortcuts as well and includes integrated syntax highlighting for code.
