so im debating on starting up a development group for games, and applications... however i worry that at least as far as the games go, text based, with graphics... similar to older version travian games.. (where you click on each image on a webpage and its seemingly part of an enclosed game) are too.. out of date??

the reason i worry is because i am starting to get annoyed with html5/canvas, too many exceptions, and all of that jazz.. i want the platform to be in the browser.. at least i think.. because its cross platform, people are more willing to play since theres no download.. and i like javascript.. (yes, we all know canvas/html5 is javascript, but its just the terrible tuts i keep finding...)

i would need to find an artist and writer really is all that id need, and i am debating on making it an MMO, but im not too worried about that in early versions.. just a game in general really.. start offline.. i dont want to mess with databases and php atm..

thoughts? is this a bad idea?

p.s. when i speak of travian, i dont mean what its like now.. now travian is just plain.. awkward.. the way it used to be.. you saw your city.. you clicked on certain things to either train or upgrade.. the game i plan on having will just have random attacks.. kind of a castle defense idea.. but will just attack randomly...

boyo, I don't know what you're trying to do with this post, but it doesn't belong in the Breaking In forum. So I'm moving it to For Beginners, for lack of a better idea.

Think of 2D and 3D just like the viewpoint you're looking at your game world. If the game idea is good and the realization as well, then you have nothing to worry about. I'm not saying if you make a good game, you'll get rich. No one can guarantee that. Just that, people categorize games by all kinds of criteria ( 3D, 2D, OpenGL, D3D, XNA, Unity, ugly, racing ...), what they are actually missing is that realization of an idea is more important than anything else, in my opinion.
