First and Foremost I would like to state that if this idea ever goes through, it would be for hobbyist reasons, not professional. I would be looking for like minded individuals who just want to have fun and experience the thrill of working on a project or to simply improve their existing skills.

Now that that is clear, I would like to present this simple spark of a idea that has slowly evolved into a fire.

Plot

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is an undefined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Popular culture has attributed various disappearances to the paranormal or activity by extraterrestrial beings.

In this game's universe, the Bermuda Triangle houses a small island similar in size to Rhode Island. The island houses a large prison complex as well as various labs and stations devoted to studying the island's mystical and electromagnetic properties. The prison complex on the island houses many of the world's most esteemed and dangerous criminals, brought here to undergo extensive experiments as punishment to their sins. The game begins with the protagonist being captured by the United States Government and being transported to a large prisoner ship, deporting from Florida.

The tutorial and first levels of this game take place on this very ship, where we learn more about the protagonist and his past, while meeting some of the fundamental characters of the narrative. Where this ship is going remains a mystery, the protagonist's past and whether he is innocent or not is up to personal interpretation.

The ship eventually arrives to the island, as the game progresses the player learns more about the island, its special properties, and the inhabitants of it. The main conflict of the story is the protagonist trying to escape the island and save the innocent imprisoned on it. As it becomes clear throughout the story, the island has become corrupted and many of the prisoner's are in fact innocent.

Gameplay

The game is a First Person Action Adventure game with Open World elements. It features a plethora of side missions away from the main story, the island is entirely exploratory. A important element to the game is the fact it has no save button. When out in the open world, the game saves automatically every 2 minutes in the background, during the main story, the game saves in the background at predetermined checkpoints. Morality and choices play a large role in the game, if you mess up during a mission and a beloved main character dies, they stay dead. You cannot go back to a previous save, the game will save automatically as soon as they die. Your actions are permanent, your mistakes are permanent, you cannot die in the game, instead you get knocked out and / or injured. Whenever this happens it will change the course of the game.

Some minimal skill sets are included, a crafting system is also included.

What do you all think of the idea, could it work?

yes

however to be quite blunt...this is a poorly phrased question, as the only answer appropriate would be yes.

What exactly is it about your idea that you are seeking feedback on? Anything in particular or just the plot/game play in general?

Sorry, I should have been more clear with the question. I was seeking feedback on the plot / game play in general yes. Is the plot captivating enough to warrant someone to try the game? Does the game play, at the least the premise of it, sound solid? Is it lacking anything, does it possess enough innovation? I guess that sort of thing.

The story sounds very interesting.

The game sounds very boring.
