Using Sonic pictures

How about just asking the Sega lawyers directly?

The rest covered the IP basis of Sega owning Sonic the Hedgehog.

Others covered that, as I said. I was merely stating the spritesheet creator's reasoning for credit: he took the time to put it all together.

Let's direct our comments to the OP and not to one another, please. I don't like the argumentative tone this is taking.

To add insult to injury, it appears that Sega as of 2011 no longer owns Sonic the hedgehog. It's owned by Panders who created Archie and is currently suing Sega...Odd story, still shady

I'd link but the site still has php errors

My questions is: Is there a legal disclaimer I can put on the screen that says this is not made by sega...etc to avoid being sued. I simply want to make a sonic game for fun on the iphone and provide it free of charge to anyone

This is an open and shut copyright violation of the image of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sorry, there are no disclaimers, etc that will allow you to legally use the images, regardless of who made them.

Further, Apple would very likely reject your app, since it would be in violation of the Apple Review Guidelines (which forbids apps that use 3rd party content without a license... they'd probably recognize sonic and :))...

By all means make an app for yourself for fun with whatever you want. But if you have any intention of putting it anywhere anybody could see it, then your best bet is to stay away from 3rd party IP, unless you'd like a call from an attorney...
