This error is far from consistent, but for some posts in subscribed threads I'm not receiving notifications, in some I'll get an Email but no on-site notification, in some others I'll get an on-site notification and no Email, and in some it still works perfectly fine. I'm certain other people have reported this, but just in case I figured I should too.

Thanks for the report! We had an issue a month or so back where no emails were being sent at all, but no mention of buggy on-site notifications, and I haven't seen any more recent reports since that issue was resolved. Anyone else experiencing this (or very similar) problem?

Just to rule out the obvious -- and improbable, given you're receiving some emails and are also having problems with on-site notifications -- you haven't had any emails arrive but accidentally get caught in your spam filter?

If you remember them, could you give us any examples of recent topics for which notifications have, haven't, or have only partially worked? It may help us properly diagnose the problem if we have specific examples of each behaviour.

I can rule a couple of those out as not being an issue, but some of them definitely should have generated notifications.

First, private messages: these normally generate notifications on site and via email, but a quick look revealed that some of the settings for your profile may have disabled this. I've adjusted these and sent you a private message to test whether or not you receive an email. Received a reply to this while I was still composing this message, and it generated notifications as expected, so hopefully this part is resolved -- please let us know if you receive any other private messages which don't generate PMs.

The warning you were issued is as-expected. When a warning is issued the moderator can optionally send you a message either via Private Message or Email, and it appears that in this case Hodgman chose not to use that option -- we allow our moderators to do this if an issued warning is accompanied by an in-topic reply warning you for the same behaviour as in this case.

Can you clarify what you think the "personal attacks" were in this case? Down-votes do not generate notifications if you meant those, but I'm otherwise I'm only seeing the single reply to your other CS&I topic -- which indeed should have generated a notification. This, for reference is also again an excellent example of the behaviour people are considering to be reacting overly defensively; it's not ok to react with all-caps and bad-language (for reference, that is a genuine "personal attack") directed specifically at a member who chose to politely inform you why he had down-voted you in a topic where you were enquiring about down-votes.

The other replies should have generated notifications, so there's definitely some intermittent problem for us to look into.

You caused the fight in the turn-based RPG topic. You jumped straight from polite discussion to swearing and all caps in your previous CS&I topic.

Didn't get an Email here, although I did get an on-site note. Odd. Well, I'm moving on.

Out of the last four replies to my threads, I received two emails and two notifications. Both were to the same posts on the thread in Game Design, but neither the first reply there from King_Tetiro or the reply from him on my new announcements thread generated a notification nor Email.
