Black Box
(Image coming soon)

Hello guys, this is my first time posting here so be nice smile.png
as you would of saw from the title I am developing a puzzle game.

What is the game?
The game will be a "Ice sliding" type of game where the player must get to the end of the level but only being able to move once until you hit an obstacle, similar to Pokemon with the ice gym. for some of you that don't know I will post a link to show you what I mean.

Style
The style of the game as the title suggests is going to be contrast colors BLACK and WHITE, with a simple back drop of particle effects and hopefully some relaxing music.
The game world/levels will be made up of cubes, the player will also be a cube though will wobble back and forth.

Very cool, man. I love games with minimalistic design -- especially puzzle games. It seems like you can do a lot with the idea. Even add more advanced ideas as the player moves along. Reminds me of a bit of Cubello (by Art Style). Minimalism music/sounds (ambient and relaxing, like you said) seems like the way to go judging from the pictures.

Look forward to it! What platforms?

Just took a look at Cubello, looks very nice might pick it up and give it a go. Platforms wise should be almost anything I can get a licence to though the current target platforms that I know I will be able to deploy to are Android,PC,Mac,Web and Linux

It really reminds me of Edge. That's quite a fun little game. I guess one of the things you'd really take into account with this would be the pricing. That's what would sell it to people. If it's a really good price, or free to play. Are you targeting a more casual audience with this?

Ah yes Edge, Cubes + Simple colors was always my intended art style and Edge was a good source of how to pull it off since the game was very popular though I have never played it.

Pricing is something I have been thinking about for some time now since I want the game to be casual and easy to just pick up for a couple of minutes in the day and put back down until later, I have some ideas on way to make the game pay for itself though I haven't decided and will probably make a poll for it.

Possible pricing models:

-Free game with Level packs(E.g 50 new levels £0.69)

-Free game with ads + add free version(Not something I would not like to see in a game personally)

-Paid game + free level packs

The target audience for this game will be anyone interested in puzzle games who are more casual about gaming on mobile and consoles.

I think you'd definitely benefit from the free to play model with in game ads with this, especially on mobile devices. The users there download lot's of free games but if they see something with a price they stop and hesitate, even at a price such as £0.69/$0.99. Letting the user pay to stop the ads is a good way to allow your users the decision of if they want to pay for the game, whilst also generating you some money from the ads from the users who play for free.

Of course it's all your decision, but this is the approach I'd personally take with this project biggrin.png

Thanks for your input though this approach seems to be more geared to mobile users, though does seem like a logical thing to do in terms of making sure the game pay for itself and gives users freedom on how they play.

I do agree with you though on how people will hesitate to pay even the smallest of prices...

would you use the same approach for say the OUYA console? since most games would be played on a TV?
