Hey Guys! I am planning on making a 2D style game, but, the problem is that its my first game and i dont know what game engine i should use :/ I need an engine (like unity, xcode, etc) where i will have the ability to publish the game on App Store! Please help.

GameMaker, but for the AppStore you need the payment version.

 

There is also cocos2d: I haven't direct experience on this, but looks promising (and free).

Game Maker is a pretty good engine (Maybe better to work with for 2D than Unity3D, but that's just me). Its inner c-like programming language is quite powerful.

I suggest you take a look in Love2d ( www.love2d.org ) its a easy and good 'framework' to 2d gamedev...

 

Its pretty easy to learn. It have lots of documentation..

 

You script your game in LUA, you can even use pixel and vertex shaders... 

 

Well.. and its free, run on Mac, Linux and Windows.... it worth a try.. :)

But you cant publish it on the Appstore, maybe i will use it to make small computer 2D Games
