Hey i feel the pain I am fifteen and i just got a new gateway essential 400c with 128megs of ram 10 gig harddrive(these are a few upgrades! my dad has to have 128megs of ram or it''s just not a decent computer to him!) any way don''t jump to the PIII 800mega hertz just yet! see if you can find someone at school or in the paper with like a 200mhz 32megs of ram and like a 4gig hard drive for $100 to $200 then when your parents see how much you need a computer they will break down and get you one. 4months ago i was programming on a 486 12megs 500megabite hard drive with a 33mhz processer! slow! but i stuck with it and convinced my parents to get a new computer and it worked!

I feel the pain,

Hang in there chap

I think at some stage we have all been where you are. My dad once bought me an old 8 bit nintendo, and he also said that games were a real waste of time, until now he has noticed my passion for it. Programming is an art form and a journey which leaves one feeling great at the end of the day knowing what you have done. Helping others who need help and sharing your creations with others.

To your parents ''Games are not evil, but a way to express ourselves , escapism. Just as reading a book we escape into new worlds. It is a hobby which could become a career. Fortunately my dad agreed to my plea. I am know a professional programmer, and I never look back. We all need a place to start, and the home PC is where it starts. ''

Know my dad is on the old PC ( my first PC ) kinda ironic huh ??

Hang in there lad !!!
