excuse me,i have a question.what is shading,i have looked up it at the gamedev game dictionary,but i found nothing.Umm..so if u guys don''t mind,pls give me the answer,ok?in additional,i want to know something about shader. thank u. jerry2 Programming,make a whole new world.

Because you phrased it poorly. Are you talking about programmable pixel and vertex shaders? That was my first guess.

sorry,i don''t know that exactly,so i want to understand it fully.because i always see something about "shading",i think maybe it''s a tech?

if you refer to vertex shaders/pixel shaders they are methods of modifing how lightening and texturing is handled (among other things). vertex shaders can be done in software (which means any card can handle them), but pixel shaders require dedicated hardware and only the newest cards support them (geForce3, raedons). if you are just refering to shading as an english word, then its the creation of darker areas due to lighting.
