2D: Procedurallly Generated Lightning [upadeted]

Hi folks!

Im new to this forum. I was trying to figure out a good method to create lightning and shock effects with code in game maker studio.

I tried to translate some c++ tutorials into the game maker language but didnt have so much success. The most promising so far is my adaptation of a neat script by YellowAfterlife.

Here is the result so far:

i still have a couple of ideas to improve the effect so it should be work in progress.

Would be nice to know what you think of it!

Hello There!

The effect i created has slightly evolved now.

Part 2 creates litte shocks on these environmental block objects.

Part 3 is the final version for the time being. It is a shock effect on the player ship caused by enemy ion-cannons.

Any feedback is hugely appreciated. ;)
